I am trying to find a photographer for out September wedding in the Colorado mountains! I have spoken with a ton of them... The nicest and best out of the bunch are:

www.cathcartphoto.com

http://www.artistiphotography.com/

http://vergephotography.com/home.aspx

The pricing on all of these would be about the same.

We had another photographer take our engagement photos who we ADORED, and he cut us a huge discount, but his rates for weddings are about $1500 over our budget.

I''d love to know what you think! Thanks for all your advice!

Of the three, my favorite is Verge (the 3rd choice) although on my computer, the pics come out a bit distorted (I can''t see them clearly, but I can tell I like their style the most). How was their portfolio in real life?

My favorite is Verge as well. I really like the quality of images they had in "catching the moment". They seem to get several great images from each of their weddings which is a good sign.

GOOD LUCK!

Here''s my order:

1) Verge
2) Artist i
3) Cathcart

i like verge and artist i more than cathcart. i think the verge pictures are beautiful and elegant. the artist i pictures seem more fun though. i''m not sure if that makes sense or not. what mood do you want your wedding pictures to convey? maybe figuring that out might help you make a decision. the good news is that it doesn''t seem like you can go wrong. they''re all beautiful!

I like Verge a lot, my concern is that they might be a touch ''too artsy.'' The soft focus of the pix on the website is in the pictures in their book, too. I like the look, but I want pictures that will be classic enough to not look dated in 10 years!

My vote is for Verge too! I really liked the more candid approach to the photography~

I'd just tell them that you don't like the soft focus (I'm pretty sure it's just a lens or a filter used to get the effect?), and that you prefer crisp, clean and classic.

Thanks ladies! You guys are the best! I went in and met with Verge and got the chance to see their book and a couple of CDs they made for their wedding couples - that sealed the deal for me. The soft focus/fuzzy issue I was having was just on the website. I think they are the perfect blend of classic and artsy for us. We are definitely going to use them! Thanks for all of your helpful advice, my fiance was trying to be helpful, but really left it up to me.
