So they're all Whiteflash A cut above, 1.21ct round, I color, VS2 with very negligible price differences. Based on the numbers and idealscopes/aset, which of the 3 would you choose?

Choice 1
1.213 ct I VS2 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond

Choice 2
1.216 ct I VS2 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond

Choice 3
1.217 ct I VS2 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond

Ask them if one is whiter than the others (or if one is more tinted.)

Throwing this into the equation, would you compromise in carat weight to obtain a slightly better color? 1.1xx ct vs 1.2xx ct (which equates to roughly .15mm smaller diameter when compared to the other diamonds posted) the diamond is intended to be set in a halo (F-G color)

I've decided to include HCA score for all of them (EX =excellent, VG= very good)

Choice 1
1.213 ct I VS2 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond
HCA 1.8 light return EX, fire VG, scintillation VG, spread VG

The I's will likely face up nice and white, however when viewed through the pavilion you will probably notice slight body tint. I don't think that you can really go wrong with any of your choices, but since I'm not particularly color sensitive I probably wouldn't sacrifice the additional size for one color grade higher. I think that you are more likely to notice the slight size decrease then the color differences....but again, I'm not as color sensitive as some. Any of them will make a beautiful choice.

I agree with asking WF if any of the 3 I stones is a higher I color than the other two. Yes, I would rather have H color, but it is hard to refuse a 1.2 ct stone to do that. (Incidentally, you don't use HCA on AGS Ideal cut stones, especially ACA's, because they have already been evaluated as ideal in light performance.)

Oops, just saw the halo factor. That might totally change my opinion. Can you link the setting?

Thanks for the opinions all. BTW I decided to use the HCA tool more so to see specific factors that change based on the cut proportions (although i'm already aware ACA diamonds are that where the homework has already been done) :wink2:

And yes, i really wanted the 1.2 carat diamonds, either one of the however the halo factor played a role in my decision. The setting is a verragio insignia 7003. has F-G color vs2 diamonds IIRC.

I ended up choosing the 1.121 ct over the 1.2 ct due to the H color. I coudln't get over the fact that the I diamonds are 2-3 levels below in color compared to the halo.

Gorgeous setting and great diamond choice! When doing a halo, I agree that H color will be better! And the small size difference won't matter as much in a halo. When buying a solitaire, you kind of want to get the largest diamond you can, but in this case, I'd also choose the H stone since you get the appearance of a larger stone from the halo. Please come back and show us pictures! I am not sure that ring has been posted here before!

thanks diamondseeker2006, your opinion made me feel better about my purchase :appl: and yes, since its within a halo, carat weight/size is probably less important than a better matched color. It will take approx 5 weeks for it to be made and set from verragio, after that I will post photos and share what I got based on months of non stop research. I thank this forum very much for assisting me in making an educated decision in my diamond.

I also thank Whiteflash for excellence in customer service so far. Once I receive the ring I will give a more detailed testimonial of my exprience with Whiteflash. So far it has been great. :appl:

I have had great service and beautiful items from WhiteFlash as well! Their diamonds are outstanding, so you really can't go wrong!
