My niece is one of my flower girls but we''re having a hard time coming up with a dress for her. She''s in between size ranges... doesn''t fit in "girls" sizes anymore, but she''s not quite tall enough for junior sizes. She''s disabled and is now going through a sort of rapid puberty + she has a tummy. Her mother had her measured for an Alfred Angelo jr. bridesmaid size and they said it would need MAJOR alterations... I just can''t see having her pay that much for a dress that still wouldn''t fit. She said something about wanting a dress with a stretchy middle....

So help me out... have you seen dresses for juniors with a stretchy/ruched midsection? Preferably in light blue? Any resources or stores to look? I''ve tried Macy''s, Nordstrom''s, Dillards, Lord and Taylor, J Crew, Talbots kids, etc... and I''m not coming up with anything.

I wonder if you could do a 2-piece style for her? Might be easier to get it to fit properly if you can do top and bottoms separately.

Good luck!!

I highly recommend Macy's petite's department. They have a much better selection than what they show online. My 16-year-old sister is also disabled and had the whole rapid puberty thing. I've found that most juniors sizes aren't cut to accomodate this sort of body type (almost no curves!), but women's sizes were much too long (I'm pretty sure she's only about 5'). Petite sizes worked the best for her when we went dress shopping. It was great too because my sister and other MOH (both are about the same height) were able to get the same dress as my taller bridesmaids and no one needs alterations. HTH!

Those are both great tips! Thanks! I''m now scouring the petites section on the websites I checked! And yes, it probably would be easier to put her in a skirt and top! Thanks!

I know when I was that weird not quite kids/not quite juniors size, I had pretty good luck at Limited Too. I obviously haven''t been there in years and have no idea what its like now, but it might be worth looking into.

I just talked to my SIL and apparently the people at the bridal shop reassured her everything would be fine if she ordered up a few sizes... it still has to be significantly altered, but SIL seems to be ok with it, so I guess the search is over.

thanks everyone!
