I''ve picked out the stone and BGD is working on a CAD for the setting. Problem is, I don''t know my gf''s ring size. She has never worn any rings (doesn''t even own any) and I want to keep it a surprise so I don''t want to even mention trying on a ring or anything like that. Her friends have no idea either b/c they''ve never seen her wear a ring. So, I''m coming to you guys and gals to help me estimate the size. She''s 5''1 and about 110lbs. Attached is a pic of her left hand w/a right hand pic coming up. Thanks in advance!

Wow, thats tough...before I read the whole post (just looking at the photos) I was thinking
about a 5.5 but 5''1 , 110 lbs is pretty small. So now I''m thinking smaller? Maybe 5?

Hopefully we can get some 5''1, 110 lb PSers to tell you what they wear. I''m 5''8, 135 lbs and wear 6.25 so
that doesnt really help.

there's no scale. good guesses would put you +- a whole size, which is not going to benefit you at all.

for example, I would guess at least six.

It''s hard to say from the pictures. My cousin is 5''1, 107lbs. Her ring size is 6. I''m 5''3, 117lbs and my ring size is 4.25.

I recently had to guess ring size too for my g/f. I was in her room and she had a ring lying around. I casually slipped it on my finger and took a mental note of how it fit, e.g., how far down can i comfortably wear it, how far down can I push it until it becomes tight. Then I went to a jewelry store and sized my own finger, remembering how the ring fit. Cant say if it worked or not yet, but I'm hopeful :)

EDIT: She's about the same height as your girl. I measured a 5.

impossible to judge from a photo. My sister is just at 5 foot 100lb and she wears a 5, my SIL is 5'8" 120lb and she wears a size 3.75, I am at 5' and about 95lbs and wear a 4.

ETA: but I'll guess a 6 anyways. This way you could size it up or down two sizes without a real big problem

It is hard to say I knew a girl who was pretty small, maybe 5''3 about 120 llbs and she wore a size 7...my guess would be around maybe a 6....

Hard to say, but I agree with the others--maybe a 6.

Size 6 is probably a safe bet. I''m 5''2", when I weighed 100-110 pounds vs. now at 175

, my ring size hasn''t changed but about a 1/4 size. Currently in a 6 from a 5 3/4. 6 is a fairly standard size. Also keep in mind the width of the shank of the ring you intend to purchase. The wider the ring, the larger the size will be necessary just as the slimmer the ring, the smaller. Good luck!

There is just *no* way to tell, even from a photo: I''m 5''4", currently 140, and a 5.25. One of my best friends is 120 and 5''10", and she wears a 7: the other is less than 5 feet, less than 100 lbs, and she wears a 6. The correlation just doesn''t exist ....

What you could do, if she''s a light sleeper, is try slipping a piece of string around her finger to measure (embarrassing if she wakes up, though), or, alternately, try something I remember a guy on here doing: buy a completely cheap ring in the most common size, 6, bring it home pretending that you "found" it, and see if it fits, or where you are ballpark-wise. If all that fails, you could enlist one of her friends to find out for you and take her to the mall or something so *they* can try rings on and get her to do so in their presence ....

I wouldn''t have a custom ring made based on a guess. like others of said, there just isn''t a scale and no way to tell from a picture. Maybe think about proposing with a promise ring or some other creative proposal and have her ring made in the correct size from the get go.

I am 5 feet and around 90 lbs. My ring size is 2.75 but like others have mentioned no way to tell. If I was to guess from the photos, I think she looks like she is about a size 6. She has beautiful nails!

Weight is no way of determining ring size. I have just lost 66 pounds, and my ring size hasn't change one iota! Also, at my lowest weight, which is probably close to 40 pounds less that I weight now, my ring size was still the same. So you can see, there is a MASSIVE difference in my weight over the years, and no change in ring size at all! Sorry!

Im going on a limb and saying a size 7. I wear a 8, i only know because BF gave me a ring that was his moms and its a size 7, sounds weird i know. But i would say a 7.

It could be anything at all. Really. Your guess could fall right off her finger or be so tight it won''t go over the first knuckle.

You need to be sneaky and find a way to measure.

Ask her mom to help by having her measure your girlfriend''s finger for a family ring her mom plans to give your girlfriend... ask her best friend to help by taking her browsing in a jewelry store... ask a close guy-friend of hers to help by getting her to "help" him supposedly pick out a ring to give his girlfriend/sister/mother... ask her to help YOU pick out a ring for YOUR mom/sister and figure out her ring size when she''s trying them on... You get the idea.

I think you''re just going to have to trick her to find out. But if I was going to have to guess I''d say probably a 6.5 to a 7. I wear a 4.5 and her fingers look a couple sizes bigger than mine.

I am a size 4.25 & your GF''S finger looks at least a size bigger than mine. I agree with the stats too, as I am 5 foot 4 & of medium build.

Ooooh, this is tough, does she have a ring you could "borrow" to figure out the size? I don''t think height/weight really tell the tale because I''m just over 5 feet 120 lb and I''m a crazy 6.5!

ya, need a scale for the pic. Got a shot with her holding a quarter or something like that?

Like the other PS''ers have said, the size of your hands / fingers bears very little relation to yr weight and height. I''m 5''2" and weigh 106lbs and my e-ring size is 4.25-4.50. I have friends who are taller but who have e-ring size ranging from a 3 to a 6.5. Likewise, people I know who are shorter/ lighter than I am have bigger fingers/ ring sizes.

From the pics of yr lady''s hands, i''d guess 6-6.50 for her e-ring.

some people have pudgy fingers that are still a small ring size and other people have thin fingers that are a big ring size.
some people are petite with large for size fingers and some people are big with small for size fingers.

There is absolutely no way to gauge her size without a diamond already sitting on her finger of known diameter and height off the finger lol

Thanks for the estimates and info! I figured it would be too difficult to gauge based on a pic w/o some sort of scale, but I was guessing a 6 based on my sis'' fingers which look pretty close to my gf''s. I''m meeting her this wknd, so I''ll see if I can take one of the sneaky suggestions in here and put it into action.

She''s supremely good at figuring things out and I don''t want to blow the surprise. I was going to take her to Greece and propose to her there b/c she''s always wanted to go. All of a sudden a cpl wks ago she''s like sooo..are you planning on taking me to Greece or something? I had told no one and we don''t live together so I have no idea how her instincts pushed her to ask that lol. (Unfortunately, that idea''s on hold right now b/c of work)

I''ll keep you posted on what happens!

Btw. Charmy, of course she has beautiful nails -- it''s what you end up w/when you have a stress-free job (govt.), plenty of free time, and manage to get manicures every 2 wks (and monthly massages) ;) That girl is living the life!

oh my... its really hard to tell... I am 5"3" and 165lbs and my ring size is between a 5 and 5 1/2.
her hands remind me somewhat of my own... If I HAD to guess, I would say she is is about a 6 to a 6 1/2.

Like everyone else said, it''d be hard to guess but maybe a 6 1/2?

Ditto. Her fingers look larger than mine. Can you have a sister, her mom, her best friend take her ring shopping causally?

Her fingers look like a gynast coworker of mine. She is a tiny thing, but has long fingers.. size 6.5.

I''d guess 6-6.5. But like the other posters have said... no way to tell just off height and weight compared to others, it really doesn''t mean much in finger size. Your proposal surprise sounds romantic! Good luck!

I''m 5 foot 1 and 120 pounds and a size 5 ring.

Size 6.25-6.5

Did you find out?
