Hi! I'm located on the island of Oahu. This is my first post but I have been lurking for awhile and have found this site extremely helpful.

My fiance and I are looking to get a HW inspired cushion halo e-ring made and need help finding a local jeweler. He does not feel comfortable going the online route, which pretty much eliminates all the PS recommended jewelers I have found on this site since they are on the mainland. I did find one thread that recommended The Diamond Specialist in Kahala but that was posted back in 2004. Can anyone still vouch for this jeweler and know if they have good micro-pave work? Or have any other jeweler recommendations?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi! I've lived in Hawaii for 10 years. I don't live on Oahu. Having said that, I don't think anyone in our small state does custom work like ERD, etc. It's just a guess but I think I would have heard of them by now. Maybe you could ask him to reconsider his feelings? As long as the order is insured before they send it, and it would be, you'd be fine. Good luck!

AlOha ipo!!

I live here on Oahu...

I haven't used this vendor since I ordered my wifes E-ring online via Eternity Diamonds (I HIGHLY recommend them!!!) but I do know at least 4 different couples who have used Pacific Diamond & Swiss Watch Exchange...they are located behind ala Moana...they ALL looooved their work! Not sure of pricing but I know 3 of them did custom work with them...

On a side note....try & talk your bf into the online vendors...you will definately get MORE bang for your buck!! Especially now with gold and diamond prices rising!! Yoni @ Eternity Diamonds is AWESOME to work with ;-)

Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the replies!!! I'll try speaking to my fiance again to see if I can change his mind about using an online vendor. He's just really apprehensive about purchasing a diamond that he cannot see in person beforehand.

His eyes aren't trained. He's not a jeweler and doesn't have jewelry background. In fact, given the fact that most jewelers lights are specifically designed to do this, he can be lead astray in person.

If you have a Hearts on Fire dealer go and spend an hour there. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, have them walk you through their education program and show you the difference between a well cut stone and an average cut stone. LEAVE YOUR WALLET AT HOME (this is a good rule whenever you are jewelry shopping. If they won't hold it for you overnight you don't want to buy it from them cause they are trying to bully you into a decision. If you wouldn't fall for it at a used car dealership --- don't fall for it at a jeweler). THEN, we can show you where you can diamonds that are cut as well (not better, but as well) and then you can make an educated comparison.

A local jeweler will ALWAYS bad mouth the web and try to scare you. So if your BF mentions buying online and you get a bunch of warning and bad stories-- take it in stride.

Ditto.

I apologize for the intrusion but I have removed some posts from this thread.

I apologize for the inconvenience OP!
