Help need: upgrade a 1 ct diamond from bluenile

I think selling privately vs. to a vendor has some additional considerations. You have no idea if the seller is honest or will dispute the charge. The seller could buy the stone, swap it and return a fake (yes, its a real thing). You have to take on the risk of shipping - potentially multiple times -- and the cost of insuring privately. I'd also plan on using a PS appraiser as an escrow agent (you and seller send items/money to them and they handle the transaction), but that will add cost. Most US mailing companies won't cover loose stones for private sellers. So, just think of all the aspects before you decide if the difference in price would be valuable enough to you.

If you want something between 1.5 and 2.0, how about this one?

This is right at $10k

thank you ajunes16

for you multiple upgrades with whiteflash, did you change the setting for all 3 diamonds? How did that work? Can you explain? Thank you.

Thank you again rockysalamander

Definitely, will be looking at highperformancediamond and Brian Gavin, since bluenile is going further and further out of the picture.

I will ask for opinion once I found something I like. Thank you in advance.

Hi @uyalison! I had the same setting for all my diamonds. A new head for the ring was made each time to accommodate the change in size. There is a charge for it but I don't quite remember (maybe about $100?).

so many people from here recommend whiteflash's ACA, very convincing. However if I were to trade in my diamond, I will have to take a loss on the diamond, and they said they cannot reuse my existing setting (https://www.bluenile.com/build-your...ing_49885?elem=img&track=product&vtype=sample) even though the ring is specified to accommodate up to 5 ct. So before I go down their route, if anyone can help me find a diamond from bluenile as good as a ACA from whiteflash. Thank you in advance.
BN's statement regarding accommodating up to 5ct means you can purchase this setting for a stone up to 5ct. It does not mean the same setting HEAD can fit both a 1ct and a 5ct. In cases where settings can be re-used, a new head needs to be built for the setting and cost incurred for it. This was the case for me with WF. You should check with BN to see what they say about re-using your setting.

thank you CareBear.

Yes, I have sent them a picture of my actual ring, I am waiting for them to get back to me to see if they can just replace the head of the setting.

My setting is from Whiteflash. It is the Exquisite Half-Round 6-prong Solitaire in platinum. Hope this helps!

I know I am a bit all over the place. Some days, I think I should stick with I, today I feel like I can go down to a K, thinking of this one:
1.910 Round K VS2
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3858597.htm
It sounds like a great price for a big diamond.

Would I be shocked with a K color in person? Does anyone who has a k color, regretted it?

Aside from the color, is this a good diamond, or is it always a good diamond if it ACA? There are inclusion on the table, but since they look small, maybe they are barely noticeable. the only think I am unsure is "Additional cloud unshown". Should I be concern about the unshown cloud that will make the diamond cloudy. Any opinions?

Since I am looking at the K color, below are the other K color diamond that they have:

This one is smaller but better clarity.
1.737 Round K VS1

Thank you,

ACA's will have spectacular performance, no doubt about that. Will K color bother you? Hard to say - but at least you won't be locked into a 2x upgrade policy. You could try the K and if it does bother you, you could wait for a higher color to come along in the next few weeks/months and trade it in right away. You could also ask what they have in their pipeline and if anything meets your desired specs. There are endless possibilities with WF which is the beauty!

Does High Performance Diamond let you trade in not their diamonds? Does anyone know? I couldn't find it on their website.

1) 1.91 ct K VS2 (11900)
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3858597.htm

2)
1.832 ct J VS2 (13600)
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3947623.htm

1- pro:
I have reserved 1). I like it because it is almost a 2, and the price looks great.

2-con:
I think I will be okay with the color k, as I like the picture of vintage looking diamond. I am a bit concerned about "additional cloud not shown". I don't understand what that mean? Does mean it is so faint, it cannot be plotted? OR does mean it is spread out here and there, there are so much of them, they cannot be plotted. The lady from whiteflash assure me it doesn't not affect the diamond light performance. Can someone who has seen or own a diamond grade "additional cloud not shown" comment on this.

There are a few inclusions on the table. I prefer them not too be on the table. And I can spot them in the video. So I am waiting to see if I can spot them in person with my naked eye.

The date stamp of 1) is June 28, 2017. I wonder why it hasn't been sold for over 8 months. Maybe it is because of its k color. If color is the only reason, I am okay with it. I just want to make sure there isn't any other reason that this diamond isn't sold for so long.

2-pro:
2) is sort of my back-up plan. If it turns out 1) is too yellow for me when I see it in person, or inclusion is too obvious for me. I will change to 2). J is still considered "near colorless", where as k is considered "faint" which blunenile doesn't even carry. According to the AGS report, all the inclusion are on the edge, which I prefer. They don't have a video on the stone.

2-con:
more expensive and smaller.

3)
IF 2) turns out to be too yellow for me, my back up back up is an I coloured diamond.
1.734 ct I VS2 (15000)
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3838493.htm
But not liking the inclusion right on the table. I can see one inclusion right in the picture. So I am not really considering this one.

1.502 ct I VS2 (12000)
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3965450.htm
I like this one. This can be my back-up back-up:lol:

Now I am more confused. I feel like picking 1) I am sacrificing quality for quantity (size). Maybe I should go with 3), then I thought maybe I should find something in I that is VS1. oh no... I am back to where I started. :cry2:
