Hi, I'm new here and I'm looking to buy online and only hang-up that I see is the symmetry (very good). Note: I moved this topic over from diamond hangout... additional data crown is 33 and pavilion is 41...

Carat weight: 2.00
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Depth %: 61.2%
Table %: 56%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence:None
Measurements: 8.09 x 8.17 x 4.98 mm
Note: The GIA report also states an extra facet. My take is that they wanted to keep the stone over 2.0

Does anyone see any issues?

[I moved my response over from Hangout]

I'm not sure if the extra facet would add carat weight. The stone is not too deep, and the girdle is fine, so the stone does not appear to be hiding weight in the typical places (depth and girdle). Can you post the number of the GIA report? Or post the rest of the numbers from the diagram of the diamond (crown percentage; pavilion percentage). What does concern me is the stone's L x W dimensions; there's a bigger gap than I'd expect to see in a tightly cut round stone. So the cut might not be very precise and that's why GIA dinged it a little bit on the symmetry. I'm just guessing, though, because without all the report numbers, a photo of the actual stone, and an Idealscope image, it's hard to say for sure if it's a good diamond. Does the vendor provide photos and Idealscope and ASET images?

I see you posted the GIA report number and the crown/pav angles:
Thanks for your help...the depth is 61.2, table is 56, crown is 33 and the pavilion is 41 note the GIA registry # is 1147178469

Here's the link to the GIA report:

I can't see any red flags with this stone, just looking at the report.
And it gets a 1.0 on the HCA, which is good.

Does the vendor offer a return period? Are you willing to buy it, take a look at it in person, and return it if it doesn't appeal to you in person? Does this vendor offer photos or idealscope images?

Looks good to me. What's your budget? Is budget a concern?

yes there is a full return policy 30 days and I plan to take it to a certified appraiser. The stone prices out around $27k
Thanks for the guidance.

G VS1 is my personal favorite! But I would rule out very good for symmetry because I want excellent for that. The only thing I might consider vg for would be polish, but XXX is best! I'd also try to get that crown angle up to 34-35.

I can see from doing a quick search that going up to XXX is going to cost more. Can you get an idealscope image for this stone and pic of the stone itself?

thanks I'am also concerned about the vg symmetry... My confusion is that they GIA grades out the stone as an ideal cut. Note I also put the stone specs into the holloway cut advisor and it came out excellent...

what is an ideal scope? I can ask

An idealscope shows whether there is any leakage in a stone that might hurt light performance. A little is okay. But here is an example of a stone with a perfect idealscope image. Look below the magnified picture of the stone and the second photo on the left is the idealscope image.

That is just a model for you to use to compare if you are able to get an idealscope image on your diamond. Even a magnified image would help so much. I will try to show you a good and not-so-good GIA Ex cut stone to show you why it is important.

Thanks I will certainly request the scope image... I see these two stones price out over $30 k and I'm trying to stay under $29 for the rock. Thanks for the extra help.
