Hello-
I am just starting my research but I do know I''m looking for around a 2ct emerald cut diamond.
What are the most important factors to look for? I am looking in the range of 10-13k.
Any help is much appreciated as I am definitely clueless!
Thank you for your response. Do you have suggestions for the best place to start looking? Also, is it best to buy in-person or can you trust buying a stone on-line?Date: 11/21/2009 6:19:30 AM

There are various proportion configurations that can result in a great emerald cut, but the main thing are images if buying online as you can''t judge an EC by the numbers. I agree with Miss Hest, select a vendor and see what they can find for you. Generally you need to go higher in colour and clarity for an EC as inclusions and warmth from some colour grades can be seen more easily, I would suggest no lower than H VS2 initially.
You are welcome. You can certainly buy online from a trusted vendor if they have images and the analysis available in order to know exactly what you are buying.Date: 12/7/2009 11:13:12 PM

BN won''t provide images so no way to tell with their diamonds. The WF stones are not in house so WF would have to call these in for evaluation.Date: 1/6/2010 11:04:22 PM

Here are 2 just to get the ball rolling. I understand the basics but please shed some light on the other specs to look for such as table, girdle, etc.
Let me know how these look and I will go from here.

and for 3 and 5 the depth is greater than the table--usually a very good indicator of the crown height and perfomance. I believe you indicated you preferred the classic 1.5. These both fit the bill nicely.
Lets have a look for you....Date: 1/20/2010 10:50:12 PM

Here are the latest updates. I'm going to have 1 of these sent in to WF for ASET images but need some help narrowing down. I like a ratio bet 1.3-1.4 which doesn't narrow any of these. Any other help on which one to bring in to acquire the images? First % is depth then table.

Hi Jac
This is really difficult because there just isn''t enough info to pick one out of the basic proportions. I have seen EC''s with what look like really promising proportions be absolute horrors and ones with mediocre numbers be stunning....I would ask WF''s advice to see if they can get more info on these before you start spending out on shipping fees.
Do you have the crown heights available for any of these? That might help narrow things down.
