Hi all just wandering if I could grab some advice on a diamond I've been eyeing. It's a 0.5 ct round brilliant diamond, f color and vs1 clarity. From what I've been researching from the certificate online, this seems to be a pretty perfect diamond with minor inclusions that I should not have to worry about (ie feathers causing diamond to shatter) & an ideal/excellent cut that will have brilliant sparkle am I correct? Would the crystal and cloud inclusions affect the vs1 clarity diamond in any way? I've been doing soo much research but I figured I'd ask for other people's advice. Oh and I originally was interested in a d color 0.52 round brilliant vs2 with feathers and crystals but I figured this was better (which would u go for? they''re pretty much same price) i've uploaded both certificates. Thanks in advance!

In this size, I color will look very, very white, SI1 is usually eye-clean and presents no issues, so anything above that is just extra.

First one the angles don't work well.

Second one I can't see, please post the numbers.

Oh wow thank you. I'm only looking at diamonds between 0.5-0.6 as my fingers are very tiny and I'm not a flashy kinda girl (lucky for my partner - even the sales rep said 1ct is too big haha) so you think si1 would be good enough as in eye clean For up to 0.6 too? And really no need to spend more on clarity for that size? Would color be more important? As to your response on the angles being no good, is there a good guide somewhere that I can refer to that's easy to understand what is ideal for my diamond size as in the cut, angles to look for etc whilst browsing =]

Oh yes what is it that makes a diamond sparkle?? What do ineed to look for exactly? I tried on a g color, si1 rand diamond ring on and it sparkled like crazy (well to me and my partner lol) so is it NOT just the cut? Ie. ideal cut

Absolutely you do not need anything above F color in this size. Sure, in 1.5 cts, or a fancy cut, you will see more color, but for a half carat round, G-I color will look very white. Many, many SI1s are 100% eye-clean, and SI2s are where the real savings are. What size would you like, and what is the budget? You can easily get a .6 for about $2000. .7 cts for $2000 probably needs J color or an SI2 to make it.

Well my partner was happy to pay 6k for the 18ct white gold rand diamond ring g colour si1 0.5ct (we are in australia if this explains the price) but a lot of my friends suggested to make it ourselves. I'm happy to have any size between 0.5-0.7 if its a good price for the diamond. But now it seems a lot more complicated looking for the diamond as you mentioned the angles etc which I don't understand..btw I've been looking to buy from www.zoara.com.au or bluenile.com . The previous attached certficates were froma local store for about $2700
