How about a round halo with the heart simply set dangling inside?

DK :))
Yes, but the stone is already a tad over 15 mm. That round halo would be huge.

I just set a stone in a ring that's 22x14. What is "huge' is speculative. LOL!

I love enormous rings, and small rings I wear as stackers. :cheeky:

Well, TL, prompted by your post, I just measured my largest ring: 30x20! It all tiny white diamonds, so it manages to look dainty in spite of its size. I would post a pic, but I don't know if it would be kosher here in CS. BTW, do you have threads with pix your rings? I might get an idea or two...

I didn't post my 20x14 ring here, but here's a pic of my amethyst ring. It is a huge trillion (13 carats) and I don't know the mm size, but it sits atop a bridge of more amethysts. It's humongous and people have seen it from across a huge room. LOL!

You should post your ring pic. Maybe we can start a thread on behemoth rings, LOL!

Wow, I love your ring, and the amethyst bridge in particular. I suppose this is an antique? It has a 1940s feel to it. As for mine, just when I was taking a pic of my ring, my phone camera decided to quit on me.

Now, of course, a halo doesn't have to be diamonds, or white stones for that matter. Look at these Hemmerle earrings with purple sapphire halos. Nifty...

Thank you! I had that ring made in the early 90's. I bought the stone from an exotic gem dealer before there were online dealers. Those earrings are gorgeous, or you could use tanzanite melee, or pinks stone. Even orange stones if you wanted to be daring with color. :naughty:

Purple goes with so much.

TL, please start a behemoth ring thread. I don't have any do I can't start it.

I second that, as I already posted my big aqua, and can't take anymore pix until my phone is fixed.
BTW I should also post the story of the aqua: it is a recut by Jerry Newman at Gemart. It was badly windowed before, but it had enormous sentimental value as a family memento for my fiance. And it is also one of the first aquas even mined in Madagascar (and was cut by the handyman who worked for my fiance's late mother there, who had zero experience cutting stones). But Jerry did an outstanding job. It sparkles like crazy now, and picks up the color of whatever clothes I am wearing.

Here's Jerry's pic, before it was reset in the same ring. It looks all grey on my photo, but here you see its true colors, pale blue with green flashes.

Yesss! Even green or red stones look great with amethysts. But if I go for a colored halo, I think I will stick with purple-bluish stones, like sapphires or, as you suggest, tanzanites to stay close to the color of the main stone, but not too close.

My colour of choice for a halo would be pink, as I love the combination of pink and purple; second choice would be turquoise as in blue topaz or zircon.

Well, I love pink, and pink stones in particular, but I have a very pale complexion with yellow undertones, and anything pink makes my skin look cadaverous.
About the turquoise, that's a great idea! I think amethysts rock with blue, and especially turquoise (the stone as well as the color). Look at this brooch for instance. Now what about a turquoise halo, with maybe a few diamond accents? That would really make it pop.

Speaking of Verdura, I tweaked a pendant of his (originally a moonstone). What do you think?

You could do apatite melee too. I saw this ring on a shopping channel and it had apatite melee. There's a video of the ring in a the link. I don't usually buy shopping channel gemstone pieces, but I thought I'd point it out as I saw that color combo there.

That purple and turquoise colour combo is gorgeous! Here's a pic from my inspiration folder that I saved ages ago, and I come back to stare at it on a regular basis. I love the two-toned metal as well.

I'm also a sucker for the good old peridot + amethyst combo as well. I recently bought some faceted peridot melee from Joopy Gems (http://www.joopygems.com/categories/faceted-gemstones.html) and was very impressed with the quality and cut, especially considering the teeny size of the stones. I bought some amethyst and rhodolite cabochon melee as well, which are also lovely, but I think the beautiful cut of your ammy will need faceted stones around it to play up the angles.

Good luck! What a fun project. I love pieces that are one of a kind.
