I was so desperate to find a style I'd never get sick of that I'm worried I've picked something too boring. Plus being on here has given me some serious DSS!! :)

I've been eyeing off the thin banded cushion and radiant cuts in halos and wondering if I should do the same (get a cushion shaped halo) or go back to the drawing board entirely.

Thoughts?

1.2ct princess cut, F, SI2, 2.5mm band with 14 x round brilliants

Aaww, I don't think your ring is boring at all. But you should definitely be happy when you're looking at it. Your ring as it is is very beautiful and quite a classic design. But you should go with whatever makes you happy to look at and comfortable.

Have you tried on some halo styles and seen how you like them?

If you want to try and keep your current style you could have smaller diamonds in your band. A thinner band will give the illusion that you diamond is larger?

If you wanted a different kind of design, you could set your current stone in a kite setting. There was a ring I saw on here some time back: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-reset-solitaire-to-halo.191303/

That would still use the stone you have now, but give you a completely different style if that is what you're looking for.

Whatever you do decide, good luck and I hope you like the end outcome.

I think I would leave it as it is. It's classic & very pretty, but this is just my opinion - i'm not the one wearing it.

+1 Absolutely. I think your ring has great presence on its own, so I wouldn't change it (ie, add a halo) ... but that's my opinion and you need to be happy.

In my case, I've found several things that have helped combat (but not cure ;) ) DSS. 1) Having a stone that's unique in some way so that, no matter the size, I never tire of gazing at it - in my case, an exceptionally well cut D-color oval and H&A melee eternity stones (which sparkle like crazy no matter where I am); and 2) having a design (e.g., single prong eternities) that isn't seen very often and therefore surprises me everyday in different ways.
Just my 2 cents, of course, YMMV. Let us know what you decide ... a new project is always SO MUCH FUN!!! :appl:

You are all so lovely! Thank you for your kind words and for making me see sense! I've got my confidence back now that I remember the whole reason I wanted this stone/setting was because I wanted a classic style that would last the test of time. Maybe 5 or 10 years down the track, if hefty rectangular radiants with halo settings are still in fashion, I'll treat myself to a trade-up.

Sean says I can do whatever he wants as long as it saves him from dealing with a pouty wife. Well, you know what they say, "happy wife, happy life"!
