One vote for Grace Kelly!

Hi Singer! I saw your post in my necklace thread about your two dresses and was curious as to what they looked like and then I saw your thread! Thanks!

Of these...I feel a little biased since Ophelia looks a LOT my like Pronovias dress! But I do love Grace Kelly....and the third one too! I think my choice if I were you would have to be based on which one works best with my body, since I think both dresses could be equally gorgeous on the right person! Do you think one flatters your body type more than the other? But honestly, I don''t think you can go wrong with any of these choices!! And good luck finding a necklace!

Okay,
I''m partial, because Ophelia is MY DRESS! I love it.
But the other two are lovely as well. I really like the fact that the Grace Kelly is different
than all the other dresses that you see out there today.
There''s only really one way to tell, try them on~ then post pictures of you in the dress.
(I love pictures of real brides in their dresses!!!!!)
It''s really how you feel in the dress.

Okay everyone, here are the results (thus far):

Dress #1 (Ophelia): 5 votes (19%)
Dress #2 (Grace Kelly): 15 votes (56%)
Dress #3 (Grace Lynette): 5 votes (19%) (However, the numbers for this dress aren't truly accurate since it was added later.)
Undecided: 2 (7%) (These people just said I need to try them on to decide...which I do.

)

BTW, I do love the Grace Lynette as well. That was my third choice originally, but I dwindled it down to the Ophelia or Grace Kelly. I guess the Grace Kelly and Grace Lynette were kind of tied, so I decided I lliked the Grace Kelly more since it is so unique, elegant, and sophisticated (and would probably be a little warmer in the winter).

Thanks for voting. Keep 'em coming! I still can't decide...

I really like deass #1 ('Ophelia') the best. It is just so romantic looking. I really like that is not too poofy, it has just the right amount of balance. Very pretty. With the right type of antique looking veil, i think it would just blow your FI away.
I kind of agree with Honeybee: That the Ophelia would blow my FI away. I just think it is so romantic looking. The Grace Kelly is too, but in a different way.

The best words to describe them: The Ophelia is "romantic and sexy," and the Grace Kelly is "charming" and "beautiful," and this is how I would probably feel in both of them. I just can't decide!!!! How do I want to feel on my wedding day? How do I want my future husband to see me? This is more difficult than I thought it would be.

BTW, I have tried on many Sottero dresses but neither of these two (because they didn't have them in the store to try on
39.gif
), however I have tried on dresses that are similar styles/fits to the Ophelia and Grace Kelly. I KNOW they will both look good on me, not that I have the perfect body or anything, but I do have an hourglass figure (about a size 10) and most dresses fit me fine. I guess I'm lucky! I'm working on dropping some pounds...I've already lost 9 pounds in the last two weeks with diet and exercise, so let's see if I can reach my goal by December: dropping 20 (more) pounds! I can do it!!!!!

Singer-
I bought my Ophelia without tryiing it on, I did, however try on Nakita, which is similar. That helped me decide.
If there are similar Maggies in the shops where you are trying on your dresses, I would recommend that---

Thanks for the advice, Tybee!

I have also tried on the Nakita...that''s how I knew the Ophelia would look good on me! I am so excited to order my dress (whichever one it may be)! I just want to be sure it is perfect for my big day.

Even though strapless is generally not my favorite, my pick out of the three would be the Grace Lynette. It looks so gorgeous! The sleeves on the Grace Kelly look a bit too big to me.

I absolutely love the Grace Kelly. Hands down my favorite for a winter wedding.

Boy,

Am I chiming in a lot on this one!
Another thing to consider when deciding between the two is the different waists.
The Grace Kelly is a higher empire waist. The Ophelia has a lower dropped waist.
I think the two would be differently flattering on different body types.

First of all, I love Ophelia. I tried on Nakita when I was dress shopping & really liked it, but found the beading to be a bit scratchy under the arms. (I have sensitive skin.)

I think Grace Kelly is just gorgeous--classic & elegant & perhaps a bit warmer for a winter wedding? While Grace Lynette is beautiful as well, I cast my vote for Grace Kelly.

Tybee mentioned a good point about the different waistlines, though. Which do you prefer?

Brightspot and Tybee~ I actually have an unusually long waist, and that is why either of these looks would work for me. Regular-waisted wedding dresses haven't been working the best because the waists are normally a little too high on me...it's strange and frustrating at times. The low waist on the Nakita (which has the same top half as the Ophelia) sits up a little higher on me, but it still looks "normal." I figure the empire waistline would look great (to eliminate the waist issue) and I have average-sized (C) b**bs...hehe! I think they would both look unique and elegant....they're just different looks. Like I said, I'm having a hard time deciding. If I didn't lose another pound from today I would go with the Ophelia (because it sucks you in), but I know I will be dropping at least another 15 pounds by December so my stomach WILL
29.gif
be flat and either would flatter my body. I CAN"T MAKE UP MY MIND!!!! AND I REALLY NEED TO.....SOON!

hi singer! :)

it''s funny that you mention your waist. when i was trying on dresses last week I looked AWFUL in these dresses that I loved on the rack because my waist wasn''t long enough, so I have the opposite problem! ANywho, I think both dresses are gorgeous. Maybe see what kind of deal you can get on them and if one has an amazing price - go with that one. I''m sure you will look fabulous in either dress so no worries :D

TYBEE~ Do you have any pics of you in your wedding dress? It's always nice to see pics of WD's on "real" people. It would be so helpful if you do (and if you are willing to post them)!

Thanks!

Grace Kelly. LOOOOOOVE it!!!!! Perrrfect for a winter wedding.

Singer,

Based on what you shared about your size and figure, I am POSITIVE you will be stunning in any dress! Just my advice, but save the "romantic" and "sexy" for AFTER you are married...hint, hint
emsmilep.gif
...well, have the "romantic" with something that is also sheer elegance. Which dress makes you feel it is just so ''you''? Ultimately, that is what will make your choice a lot easier. You sound like you will look amazing in any dress anyway and I am sure your FI will love how you look irregardless...
emsmile.gif
...My DH always says us ladies are harder on ourselves about such things...

A fast example...the other night, we were going out for dinner and I wanted my hair to look just so and my shoes to be totally sexy to complete my outfit. Well, my DH said he saw me and didn''t even notice the shoes or just one particular detail, but rather, the whole picture. Now that is what I am saying about you and this dress situation. Your choices are stunning and I am excited to see which one you feel calls your name!!!
emwink.gif

All of us PSer''s I am sure wish you the best of luck in choosing...

Go with your heart...

Ha ha,
I deleted my pictures from my computer so that FI wouldn''t accidently see them.
I did have pictures, and posted them on here a while ago.
I''m actually going to my first fitting on Friday. I''ll see if I can take some pictures then.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress---but the Grace Kelly is beautiful too!
Let me see if I can find a link to that very old post.

I have never figured out how to create a hyperlink here, sorry about this, but you can see me in my Ophelia on page 17 of bridesworldwide under the topic "it''s here."

The pictures are blurry and bad, and the dress is about a size too big, so that it looks as if I have no waist to speak of, but hopefully I''ll look a little curvier after alterations.

Absolutely with no doubt, Grace Kelly!!!!!!!!

That is one of the prettiest wedding dresses I''ve seen for sale in years. And what you said, "I lliked the Grace Kelly more since it is so unique, elegant, and sophisticated (and would probably be a little warmer in the winter). charming and beautiful" - I agree. I also think it is more timeless.

I like #2.. I think it is very classy and beautiful!

I like #1, then #3 (Grace Lynette), and then #2 (Grace Kelly).

I must be partial to strapless.

Definately the Grace Kelly!

However I guess it really depends on your body shape and the place that you will be having the event. I know that for me that dress would not look as good on me as a puffy princess dress, since I'm so tiny I'll just disappear in a big opera house (where I will be having my event)

Kaleidoscopic~I have thought about that too! If the skirt on my dress isn't somewhat puffy, am I just going to blend in? At most wedding receptions it is easy to spot the bride, but what if someone is wearing a dress like the "Ophelia," for example? That has crossed my mind, but I guess it isn't a really big deal. That is one reason I think I am liking the Grace Kelly a little more.

BTW everyone, I think the Grace Kelly is taking the lead...and I'm starting to lean towards that one as well, to be honest with you. The funny thing is, the more I look at the Grace Lynette (the strapless version of the Grace Kelly) the more I like it. Does a strapless seem inappropriate for a winter wedding (in the Midwest)? Brrrrrr.... What are your opinions on this?

Hi Singer - I have to cast another vote for the Grace Kelly, but I think its really important to try it on, as others have said. My one concern about it is that with curvy girls sometimes empire waists just don''t "look right." I know I had this problem, and so ended up with a dropped-waist ballgown, which worked better with the curves. Of course, I''m bigger on top, so the issues may be different.

I do think the Gracy Kelly is incredibly elegant and beautiful and classic, but I''m sure you''ll look fantastic in whatever you choose!

{{{Grace Lynette (the strapless version of the Grace Kelly) - Does a strapless seem inappropriate for a winter wedding (in the Midwest)? Brrrrrr.... What are your opinions on this?}}}}

Since you asked for opinions, I personally don''t care for strapless; they look unfinished to me; and I do think "Brrrrrr" is right for a winter wedding in strapless. Since you said you "love antique styles and am getting married in December... snowy (hopefully), Christmas wedding" I think the Grace Kelly is much more timeless or "antique" looking and also more appropriate for winter. Personally (I hope I don''t offend all the many gals out there who wore/are wearing strapless - sorry) I think eventually the strapless will look dated - since it seems like just about the only thing out there in this decade - it looks very "2000''ish" to me (how does one describe this decade, like saying "the 80''s"?), while I think the Grace Kelly doesn''t look like any particular time period, just classic! That''s my two cents for what it''s worth...

(I agree with those who said you''ll need to try it to be sure, but as far as the waistline, it''s the same for Grace K or L.)
