Hi everyone! I inherited a 4.7 pear shaped ring from my grandmother. I recently changed the ring and added a halo to it.
I really do love it, but when I look at it in certain light it has that dark ‘bow tie’.
It also has some inclusions visible with the naked eye they are mostly close to the bottom of the pear.

I would love to show it off! I Just wanted some opinions if it looks too bad to be wearing such a large ‘flawed’ ring.

I’m attaching some photos in different light.

It was last appraised as H-I color and SI1 clarity.

Honestly anyone making any negative comment is likely jealous. That’s a lovely big diamond in a pretty halo. I’d wear the hell out of it if it were mine

I don't hear anyone criticising the diamonds in old worldly significant pieces such as crown jewels in countries such as UK, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium, etc. etc...

So enjoy wearing it as it is, for sentimental value alone if not for the wow factor!

DK :))

Let the comments wash over you and that pear. Wear it happily. A large percentage of pear cuts have bow ties!

Other people do not look that closely at other people's jewelry, so my thought is, the only thing they'd think is "Wow, look at that huge diamond"!

You are very lucky to have such a nice heirloom! Wear and enjoy as other's have said!

I wouldn't ever take it off of my finger if it were mine... !!!
You are so lucky to own such a huge and beautiful diamond, with great sentimental value!
Wear and enjoy it in good health :kiss2:

How great to have such a beautiful and large diamond, and a special family heirloom to boot! Wear it with pride and enjoy it!

A diamond doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
It was your grandmothers diamond, that makes it a very special and important diamond.
Who cares if it has some inclusions and not a “modern precision cut”, it’s a family heirloom and a HUGE one at that.
Wear that gorgeous, special ring proudly and with love.

You are one very lucky woman. First that you are the beneficiary of the ring . Such a sentimental inheritance to think of your grandmother everyday. It is beautiful . The setting is gorgeous and it is huge.
No one is going to judge an inherited heirloom. Enjoy wear it with the memories and love you had for your grand mother. The patrons on the site appreciate this stone and ring for its merits as a fabulous family memory.

It’s beautiful! No matter what anyone thinks, the minute you say “it was my grandmother’s” it becomes flawless.

My grandma's ER is tiny in comparison
No one has ever ever said a negative thing about it to my face
Thank you everyone for being so kind and helpful. You have such great attitudes!

Well and we all most likely have grandma's who were given rings by our grandads :kiss2:
That's love

I'm not all that down on 'bow ties' but the first and easiest solution if you don't like it is to keep it squeeky clean. The most important part is the back of the stone. Use a toothbrush and any sort of degreasing agent, like Palmolive or dawn. Diamonds attract grease and grease on the back makes bowties (and inclusions) more prominent.

Thank you- sound like good advice

What a rock! Wear it and enjoy it. From my experience no one will ever see the inclusions. Where I live, most people wouldn’t even recognise it as a diamond because of the size. It‘s for you to enjoy! It‘s beautiful!

it's never bad wearing any ring you like and especially when it's an heirloom. rock it with joy!

Thank you! ☺️

That ring is fabulous!!! And what a lovely reminder of your grandmother. I would wear it with pride and enjoy it!!

Wow, I think it looks amazing! What a beautiful stone - I wouldn’t be bothered by a visible inclusion in such a big stone, I think it shows it’s real and add character
