help with cushion (specifically table %)

is a large table % really that bad (i.e. 75% with a very small crown)? is it just because it diminishes the sparklyness (for lack of a better word)? i like the look of it, but wasn't sure if it drastically impacts value (meaning i'm getting ripped off). or are cushions "supposed" to have large crowns for the "chunky" look, so the larger the table the smaller the crown?

any insight would be much appreciated, as everything i've read on line is pointing me in different directions. the whole table debate seems subjective to me.

Yes, it is subjective to a large degree.
There are specialty type cushions- like newly cut stones made to look like antiques- that have taller crowns, and smaller tables.
Again, it's subjective- and many of this type of high crown stone goes for a premium price. So it's important to buy what you love.
When you have looked at the diamond, did you view it away from the bright store lights?
Also, tilt is one area where a large area might be a detriment.
If you tilt the diamond a little bit and get a large window, that might not suit you.
Mind you all diamonds will window a bit when tilted, it really depends on degree- how much tilt produces how much window.
On the positive side many of the largest looking stones for their weight have large tables.

Here are my thoughts. Anything over 68% looks glassy to me, in person. And then there is the tilt window issue RD mentions which, for me, is a death nell.

I would not personally consider a stone with that large a table, in any cut : even princesses where large tables are more acceptable than other cuts.

It is my personal preference to have a high crown as as small a table as possible. I like this particular look. A larger table looks glassy, as mentioned.
