Is that too small for an adult's ear? Do you know the mm?
What is the best size for most women? and how much is an approx cost? :read:

Depends upon the size of your ear lobes. The smaller they are, the more you can get away with smaller stones providing proportionate size.

I have a pair of .20ish ctw and feel they're too small. I bought them used from an estate jeweler for really cheap ($75?) and wore them for about 6 months before upgrading to .50 ctw and then wore the second pair before again upgrading. My current are .82 ctw and I think those are perfect for daily wear.

What is your budget? That's probably the best place to start. Also, for sizing, it's best to go to a local jeweler and try some studs on. Be sure you try excellent cut to best see size.

ETA - re: cost...mine were more b/c I went with WF ACA branded stones and went up to F color. I picked those traits because I won't be upgrading for years! DH gave me a budget and said get the best I could for that amount. ;)

I think they are too small unless you are a small person, like one of my bosses (who has to shop in the kids department for jeans).

Personally I think .5 ctw-.8 is a great starter size.

about 3 mm.

Re: Help with Diamond Stud Earrings, is .22 total weight sma

I believe it depends on what you like, how big earlobes you have and the setting. My studs are 0,25 in white gold buttercup settings and I have small lobes. This for me is the ideal size so I think it really depends. Also to consider is what people arround you wear, if everyone is wearing 1 ct a 0.22 ct pair will probably feel small but mine are considered to be pretty big because swedes most of the time have very small diamonds if any.

You need to find what appeals to you. Check out the show me your studs thread, it is really helpfull when shopping for your own.

Thanks girls!!!!!!! I guess my budget will be $750 ish. So .82 tw? I have small ears but want them to be sparkly and show up....
3mm? wow that's small :wavey:

Re: Help with Diamond Stud Earrings, is .22 total weight sma

Very much depends on what look you're going for IMO.

I have a 1ctw pair in martini settings and a 0.1ctw (not a typo!) pair in bezels. I thought once I got the larger pair my baby bezels would get no use.. they're still my favourite everyday go-to pair, I love the tiny drops of sparkle on each ear - cute, discreet, and unfussy.

Even in that size though - I wear them so often because the diamonds are beautiful and the workmanship of the settings is impeccable, for your everyday studs I would not cheap out on the settings, whatever you choose!

.25 cts. is about 4mm. That is about the smallest I would recommend for an adult. My daughter got her ears pierced with 3mm cz's and that looks good on a child, I think.

This style oook said to get Tiffany stud diamond earrings....they're so much for so little! (.22ct)!
Thanks for the advice everybody!! :wavey:

I have 2cttw diamond studs, they are great for daily wear. Not huge, not small. They fit in with my other diamonds nicely.

My husband bought two 1ct loose diamonds that paired well with each other and had them set into earrings rather than a ring. So, price out what good stones cost loose.

MC, not to get off the topic, but any chance you have a picture of your earrings? Could not only help the poster with size, but I am also very curious a I just got .86 ctw F VS2 but have been debating going up to 1+ctw and G/H instead (to fit the budget). If you had pics it could likely help both of us as you have about exactly what I was about to buy. I actually thought EXACTLY like you that about F because I didnt plan on any near future upgrade, but knowing me, that will never be the case. Thank you!!

Hi,
Yes, I did post photos. :) Glad you found them...did I post photos of the earrings on my ears? I don't remember. If I could have gone up to 1.2 ctw then I'd have gone down to a G/H. It wouldn't have been worth it, to me, to go up to stones that were about .50 each just for that small of a difference (so I chose the F color instead). Because of the excellent cut, they look bigger than most other mall earrings of the same weight. Also the ACA was a bit of an overkill. After buying my earrings, I bought an expert selection from WF and couldn't tell the difference - that stone was an E VS2.

Actually you had both, pictures in the box and also in your ears beside a 0.5ish ctw set so it was nice to see for the comparison. The pair I am looking at are 1.1 ctw so right in the middle of 1 and 1.2, but the mm difference should be about the same from the 0.5ctw and 0.82 ctw in the pics so it might be worth it to go from 0.8ish to 1.1. I have looked at the ES too, still kind of up in the air. I contacted GOG today so we will see what they have available too. I don't really have a "budget" per se but I am one of those guys that LOVES "biggest bang for my buck". I would prefer no more than 2500 with setting (3 prong martini WG) but if the right pair came my way, you never know :naughty: Thanks for the info, trying to get my fiance that perfect starter pair and your pictures (as well as the post in general with the pictures) really helped.
