I'm new to the whole engagement ring hunt. Never really gave it any thought until recently when my bf and I started discussing getting engaged. I like step cuts but after seeing fancy colored diamonds in person I'm gravitating to them. I know steps won't hold the color as well, as say a radiant or cushion, so I'm definitely open to those cuts now. I've looked at the diamonds by Lauren site daily for ideas. Anyone have a FY center with a pink Halo? I can't decide if that's just too much color. Wouldit clash? Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed!

It really is a matter of personal preference. The one point I would bear in mind about an ering is that it is a ring that will be worn every day so make sure that you really love it. You want something that is pleasing to the eye, fits in with your lifestyle and style of dress. For me personally, the ring you are describing is better suited to a RHR but I really like white diamonds so I'm biased in that regard. I would prefer a simple, classic white diamond engagement ring but my tastes are not the same as everyone else's taste. Go with what makes your heart sing!

I'm talking about this style. Anyone have something like this? If so, is it too flashy with the various colors? While white diamonds are beautiful I'm really considering a colored option so it has a unique feel.

Since you say you're very new to this (and what I'm about to suggest is going to sound odd but it'll work) I'd tell you to go visit Walmart, Target, or any other stores that tend to sell costume jewelry and try on rings that are the color, size, and/or style you're considering. You really need to see how these rings look and feel on YOUR hand and you'd be surprised how differently you might feel from seeing them online.

Of course, if you have local jewelers who offer large numbers and styles of fancy colored diamond rings then definitely check them out, but I know that in my area the selection is very very limited. So when I was working on my new ring set, I purchased cheap imitations of what I was thinking about (either from local stores or online) and I lived with them for a few days to see if they looked and felt the way I'd envisioned in my head. Doing that really saved me a ton of money and heartache in the long run so I thought it might help you in your quest as well.

Good luck :wavey:

I personally can't see yellow and pink as being very versatile. Maybe a yellow diamond with white diamond halo, or white diamond with rose gold/pink diamond halo. But I think white diamond go with everything, so that would be my personal choice for a ring that is worn all the time.

agreed. Nothing wrong with a lil color, but I think if you want versatile, it's best to keep it to one main accent color! In another note, you should join us in Ladies in Waiting if you're planning on sticking around for a while ::) :wavey:

Wow, that is definitely unique and not something that I'm used to seeing. I think that while it's not necessarily a classic combo, if you like it and you won't get sick of it, then you should definitely go for it! If you think you are going to regret it in a few years, then you should probably look for something else.

In the end, you'll be the one wearing it everyday, so you should be the one making the call. Definitely look around before you decide!
