help with ering styles and Diamond selection

I'm new to the whole engagement ring hunt. Never really gave it any thought until recently when my bf and I started discussing getting engaged. I like step cuts but after seeing fancy colored diamonds in person I'm gravitating to them. I know steps won't hold the color as well, as say a radiant or cushion, so I'm definitely open to those cuts now. I've looked at the diamonds by Lauren site daily for ideas. Anyone have a FY center with a pink Halo? I can't decide if that's just too much color. Wouldit clash? Thoughts and suggestions are welcomed!

I really don't like yellow diamond with pink halo. It's just a matter of taste but for me it "clash".

Personally, I don't care for a FY with a pink halo. However, it's not my ring. My concern however would be if it would stand the test of time...i.e. are you going to be sick of it in 10 years? Now, in PS land, that's no problem...you just upgrade, but in the real world, most folks don't ever change their original ering or upgrade....so, something to to consider...

There were three identical threads started on this topic, and some of us were trying to help out yesterday. I'm copying the link from the previous thread (below) so that all of the ideas can be in one place (maybe?).
