So Jerry from Gemart is cutting my 23 carat blue topaz into a rectangular radiant. Size will be around 10x12 mm once the window is removed and facets are added... Huge on my 4.5 finger . I'm going with a simple solitaire from Heart of Water to really show off the stone. What metal would you do it in? I thought for sure rose gold as it brings out the blue, and my stone is fairly pale. But will white gold look better with the blue? Or maybe yellow gold ? Chrono mentioned it depended on the colour I wanted to bring out, and I like the current pale blue look of the stone now, so I'd want to best showcase its current colour.

The cut after recutting:

The setting, dainty with a 1.4mm shank.

Love a pale blue stone in rose gold. But is white or yellow gold a safer bet?

I would put the gemstone next to a copper penny, or a nickel to see which color of you like against your skin tone. I think that white gold is safer. Rose gold is more special.

I would wait until the recut is complete, then play around with different metals to see the effect.
