Hi,

Thank you in advance for your advice on a loose diamond I am looking at. I have looked a long time at the options available and the one I found and tried to purchase was unfortunately sold although the website still let me purchase it, so I have had to start over. I am looking for close to a 1 carat solitaire engagement ring, with a pave band. My budget is approximately $5,000.

Here are the details:
Shape: Round
Carat: 0.93
Color: G
Clarity: VS2
Cut: Excellent (GIA)
Depth: 60.2%
Table: 59%
Crown Angle: 34.0
Pavilion Angle: 41.0
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Clarity Characteristics: Feather, Needle

Price: $4,819.00

Can I please get opinions on this specific diamond? Also, what are recommendations for changing the color or clarity (higher or lower) to get a larger stone or cheaper price?

Thank you!

Could be really nice, have a picture?

Also, would it be better to purchase the diamond and setting from the same place so that there is a lifetime warranty with it? I'm a little worried in purchasing from separate places and not having a warranty will end up costing more in the future. Thanks again!

Gorgeous. I think the price is good. I would prob not drop to I SI1 just to jump the 1 ct mark... what are the dimensions? Not that there is anything wrong with I SI1, but G VS2 is very nice quality.

Insurance is better than a warranty... but usually anywhere that sells the setting should warranty the setting from defects for a certain amount of time...

Length 6.33
Width 6.35
Height 3.82

Thank you so much for your advice, it is so kind of you!

Stone looks good!

As for whether to lower color/clarity to get over the 1ct mark, that's personal preference. Some people are fine with J SI2 to get over the 1 ct mark, while others would prefer a smaller stone with higher color/clarity. But the main thing to remember is that CUT is what makes a diamond sparkle, not really color or clarity. I prioritize size myself, so I would be fine with an I or a J color stone.

Thank you for the comparison. I thought that the price on the diamond I found seemed reasonable compared to others that I have looked at. I had my heart set on one I found earlier and completed the purchase and it showed up on my credit card and everything, then a few hours later I got the dreaded e-mail saying it was sold and not updated on the website. I might have to jump on this one so that doesn't happen again. It will be nice to be able to see it in person and I am always safe knowing there is a return period.

We've been looking at diamonds with those same specs and budget. I think you've hit a great sweet spot with color, cut and size. I'm a very picky girl who isn't into changing up jewelry, i wear the same pieces every day so I want my ring to be quality and I would be thrilled with that. If the community likes the specs/angles I'd say go for it!

Uh nice find. I am looking for the EXACT same thing you are. Pave, solitare, same budget, same diamond specs etc. etc. I think for that price you can't beat it, especially if the specs line up right.

Thanks everyone, I can't wait to see how it looks in person! I wish you all the best on your search for diamonds as well. Now onto finding the perfect setting. We like the look of the Tiffany Novo (with a round diamond), so I'll be looking for something similar to that on a fairly tight budget since I wanted to focus most of the money on the diamond. I'm open to any ideas, suggestions, or examples you all have. Thanks again!
