Greetings All,

I''m hoping for some help on evaluating this diamond. Ultimately I''m looking for around 1 ct or slightly bigger size for an engagement ring. I''ve been looking at Excel Diamonds since they have a very nice Tiffany replica that I''d like to pair with.

Round Brilliant
Carat: 1.13
Color: F
Clarity: SI1
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Strong Blue
Table: 56%
Depth: 62.2%
Crown: 35.0
Pavilion: 40.8
HCA Score: 1.6 Excellent

I was intrigued by the strong flourscence of this stone. I''ve heard differing opionions but I think that some sort of flourscence would be a bit more unique and I think my GF would love that.

I''m most concerned in that it seems like a lot of inclusions. Can anyone help with comments or opinions on this diamond? Should I continue looking? Should I move the ct size down closer to 1 to get better clarity like a VS2?

Thanks All for the help in Advance,
Tim

Hi Tim and welcome!

Looks like a great diamond you have there and I am personally a huge fan of fluorescence, so as long as you check with Judah or Barry that the SB fluorescence isn't making the diamond look cloudy in some lights ( rare) you should be fine. Check the stone is eyeclean also and that the grade making cloud noted isn't impacting performance ( again rare) then you should be all set.

This link goes into greater detail on fluorescence from the Pricescope tutorial.

You can't judge whether a diamond is eyeclean or really get a good idea of the inclusions from the clarity plot, the vendor will be able to advise you there. If an SI clarity diamond is eyeclean to your standards then thats fine, these grades can make a great choice.

IS image looks good.

The inclusions are being reflected around the diamond, cannot really say if it is eye-clean from the image or clarity plot, best to ask Excel about it.

Thanks for your input! I''ll ask them if the stone is eye clean.

One concern I still had. Will a symmetry and polish of Very Good for both be at all noticeable versus a stone with an Excellent rating for both? I believe I''ve heard that an un-aided human eye can''t tell the difference between Excellent and Very Good but part of me is concerned that it won''t be as good.

Thanks all in advance again,
Tim

No. The naked untrained eye cannot normally distinguish between very good and above for polish and symmetry.
