Hi,
I''m looking for a princess cut channel set wedding band....but I seem to have some concerns....

The closest I was able to find online is from White Flash: Princess Cut Channel Set from White Flash

I''ve been browsing some threads and concensus seems to be princess cut diamonds are very hard to determine if they will have good fire, sparkle, and brilliance of a round diamond. Since princess cut diamonds don''t have the measurements of a round diamond to determine if it will "shine", how can I determine what kind of princess cut diamonds I will get when I buy this in a channel set? Will someone be crazy enough to let me see each ASET image of the princess cut diamonds?

I also heard that princess cut diamonds are kind of "rigid". If they''re not properly inserted / slided into the channel set, the corners may break? I don''t know how accurate that statement is....but if that is the case, how can I tell if the bottom part of the princess cut diamond did not break when I receive the ring?

I personally prefer round diamonds because I am afraid the princess cut diamonds may look "dull". Is it possible to have round diamonds in a channel set? I saw a few wedding bands that seem have round diamonds, but I wasn''t sure if it was a channel set. The one I saw seem to have "black spacing" in between the round diamonds on the top and bottom edges. Has anyone seen where they cover the black spacing?

I would appreciate it if someone could lead me in the right direction.
Thanks!

You can search for a line of AGS Ideal cut Princesses... It''ll probably cost something fierce but they''ll definitely "shine".

And yes, you can definitely channel set round brilliants. In a channel setting, the rounds will definitely show some "black spacing". If you want those spaces filled with a metal, perhaps you should consider a pave set.

Does anyone have a princess cut channel set wedding band? I would appreciate it if you could give me your thoughts and experience on the selection of diamonds that were included in the ring.

Thanks!

You can do rounds in a channel set band. WF has one: http://www.whiteflash.com/Wedding_Bands/Honey-Channel-Set-Diamond-Wedding-Band_1410.htm

ETA: What draws you to the princess channel set band?
Hi,
My fiancee like the princess cut channel set ring....
She''s more into the style and the way it looks...but not really familiar with diamond cuts.

I already bought her a round diamond for engagement with help from this forum. But I''m concerned the princess cut may look dull and "ugly" compared to the round diamond.

Do you mean from Whiteflash specifically, or from any company?

All diamonds are different. It just depends on what the company selects for you and what you are willing to pay for. I considered a princess cut channel set a long time ago, and I''ve seen some beautiful, sparkly princesses set inside them.... and that was even before princess cuts were graded. I can tell you right now - some are fantastic, and some are not quite so fantastic. Choose your company wisely, and WF I would say is definitely a good choice... you can just buy it and return it if it doesn''t suit your requirements.

While I may be wrong, I don''t think any company is going to send you ten Aset images on ten 0.05 ct diamonds just so you can decide two or more don''t suit your requirements... not unless you were willing to pay for that time and effort anyways...

Princess channels are nice. If you go back five years, almost all the girls had a princess channel or a round brilliant channel in their wedding set. For the princesses, you get a nice long smooth face of sparkly diamonds. I understand. But each ring is different and you''ll just have to see it for yourself.

One thing I remember when looking at the princess channel is that jewellers used to tell me it can be somewhat difficult to clean. A dirty diamond will lessen the sparkle... The design may be somewhat different now but something to consider and to ask the jeweller about.

My wedding band is channel set with princess cuts (though NOT from WF) and I love it. I don''t think it is dull at all! You can have rounds instead. I personally do not like the gaps it creates. No right or wrong answer here. Just a personal choice!

I''m only referencing the princess cut channel set ring from White Flash in general. I couldn''t find another decent picture (or maybe I didn''t look hard enough).

But you do make a good point...I did hear the princess channel gets dirty very easily and will lose its "shine". That is another reason why I want to go with the round diamonds. But the gaps in between the diamonds don''t make it look as smooth as the princess cut. I did look into the pave rings, but I personally don''t like the way it looks. I prefer to see the diamonds.
Would you or anyone know if there is a way to cover the "gaps" in between the round diamonds? I haven''t found one myself. But I''m curious to know if anyone else might know.

From your experience, have you ever heard of the princess cut "cracking" or breaking on the edges of the diamond when they set or slide it into the channel set? A jeweler told me if the work is not done carefully, the buyer may not even know the princess cut diamond has a crack on the "bottom" side of the channel set. How would one check if the work was done correctly? Would an appraiser be able to see if there are problems?

You are also correct on the ASET images of a princess channel. I didn''t think someone would produce 10 to 12 images. I''m just concerned the princess cut will not shine as well as the round diamond on her engagement ring.

I think this has more to do with the design of the channels et ring, than anything to do with the cut of the stone.

I would prefer a princess diamond with a good cut.
But are you saying in general that channel set rings get dirty easily? If that is the case, round diamonds could lose its shine too if it was in a channel set?

Of course! I had a local B&M make it b/c I wanted it very thin, minimal metal walls, milgrained, and an eternity band. I could NOT find one ready made. If you do a search I do have photos of my wedding band on here. I love running my finger on it and just feeling the diamonds. It is so smooth and comfortable. I don''t think princesses get dirtier faster than rounds. Step cuts are the ones to worry about! Just buy a good ultrasonic cleaner and you will be just fine.
