hello i was looking at my moms wedding ring and it is stamped 14kt-v-pat and on the other side FR im thinking the FR is the maker but have no idea what 14KT-V-PAT if you have any idea that would be great
More than likely, as you have indicated the "FR" is probably the standard text mark or "hallmark" of the manufacturer, it is required to be stamped on the inside of the ring if an alloy stamp, in this case 14k, is stamped inside of the ring. The Federal Trade Commission requires all jewelry stamped with an alloy stamp to contain a hallmark to identify the manufacturer in case the jewelry has been under-karated, i.e. 10k gold content jewelry that has been stamped 14k.
It is possible that the "V" is nothing more than a reference to a collection within the designers line, such as V for Victoria or something like that. And "PAT" might refer to Patent or Patent Pending, it is a common abbreviation for that. Other than that, I don''t have a better guess.
