Hello everyone,

Just getting down to the nitty gritty of tweaking a custom design for an E ring. img_1767.jpg

This is the inspiration for the ring. We saw it at a local store but the diamonds were way overpriced and they refused to sell just the setting. My gf's finger is about 7 cm long and the diamond is a little too large for my budget

My question is about the setting. I have started the process with whiteflash and i'm just looking for some feedback.

The first render looked like this: which was pretty perfect except that i thought the shank was a bit too thin. (the measurement was of the ring of the ring 3.0mm with each shank about 1.0mm.)

I asked for a bit of a thicker shank (4.0mm) and a platinum basket.

I'm just wondering about where the shank meets with the basket. I'm not so sure that i've seen a ring before that has a undergallery that's thinner than the shank as a whole. Does anyone have any suggestions to make it look better? I don't like the step that's there. I understand that this partly because i asked for a thicker shank, but i didn't want to have such a thin ring given the design.

I've been having some trouble with the design of the basket too. Any ideas to make the whole thing more fluid? Right now it just looks a bit...standard.

Thanks!!

You are getting a smaller stone so I would also thin the shank a little to keep it more in proportion... Unless you really want a 4 mm shank.

I think they did a really good job, it looks very much like the original to me. If you want something more fluid and a thick shank, have you seen the X-prong?

Thanks! I was erring more on the thicker shank only because i didn't want each half shank to be too thin. Should i even have worried about each shank being 1mm?

4 mm shanks are not very common. Though I guess at 7 cm your gf's finger is almost twice as long as mine, so she can take it.

Most people like thinner shanks because it makes the stone pop, but you don't need to worry about that in yellow gold.

Sholdt has incredibly fluid designs. There's this Sholdt, which with the diamond row kind of echoes the channel of the original inspiration ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-sholdt-semi-bezel-with-side-stones-in-yellow-gold-hooray-the-reset-saga-ends-and-thank-you.133883/

The plain version is quite popular on PS: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-sholdt-semi-bezel.93098/
