So last year I wanted to purchase an oec and have a solitaire bezel necklace made, I wasn't able to. In the next few months I will, but I am quite lost. I thought I wanted and oec and was going to use old world diamonds. However I'm not that impressed with the inventory I've seen. After some consideration I am leaning towards and omc but this is proving to be difficult to find. I have tried old world diamonds, single stone, and good old gold. Single stone is too expensive, gog has no omc's and owd has a small inventory. Where else can I look? I am looking for preferably a .45ct, I am open to color want to keep around J. Clarity is the one I'm stuck on I want eye clean and just nice, bright stone. I wanted to stay in the $600-$700 range, is this realistic? Gog has a gorgeous stone, but it's an oec, here:

Apparently Adam at OWD has many diamonds in stock that are not on his website so I'd start by contacting him. I'd also call Jewels by Erica Grace (although they do not have anything on their website currently that matches what you're looking for). You could also place a WTB (Want to Buy) ad on the Preloved section. Hopefully the experts will offer you some eBay options. Good luck!

Agreed, Adam's stock is far beyond what is listed online. I was actually quite put off OWD by their website, so am glad I gave them a chance. I think a revamped website (ahem, James Allen, ahem) would do them a lot of good.

I'll see if anything strikes me during my ebay travels and let you know. :))

Agreed! Adam didn't have anything like what I was looking for on his website but within an hour of emailing him he sent me several options.

They can be hard to find. I have found that many pawn shops that sell jewelry have old cuts that they do not display. You usually have to ask if they have any, and then they will show you. They usually sell the diamonds to someone who is going to recut them.

Thanks for the help. I will consult Adam but first I'm going to read more about both cuts of diamonds. I thought I understood more about the specs for each but I'm stil a little confused. The pawn shop idea is great but unrealistic for me, with three kids it's easier to spend time on the Internet.
