My wife went to a vintage jewelry store and was dazzled by a green diamond. I guess it’s irradiated. I’m just like oh boy, here we go again. I just barely started to understand a little bit about diamonds and she finds irradiated haha!! The problem is, I can’t really find any comps. It’s $3500 set in platinum and 1.5ct. She doesn’t “get all that gia stupid stuff” so let’s just assume si1. Here are some bad pictures she took. She said it’s stunning in person. I’m very intrigued by the lack of irradiated diamonds on ebay, etc. Are they pretty neat? Or frowned on? Are they rare?

I think I’d buy a lab colored diamond or a colored stone before going with a color treated green diamond.

Have you seen this mint garnet?

Or these lab diamonds?

I can help.
I own a 2.35 carat irradiated diamond.
I’ve done a bit a research and green is uncommon, but I wouldn’t call an irradiated diamond “rare” per se, but definitely uncommon.
I was told from another jeweler who purchased a natural green diamond for his mother that natural green diamonds are extremely rare, and irradiated green is one of the lesser common colors (I’m guessing supply and demand). Blue and pink are what people mostly ask him for to better answer your question.
As for frowned upon I guess it depends who you ask. LOL, I don’t think I’ve seen too many natural diamonds that have irradiated color on here.

If I tell my wife there aren't a lot of them, and most people don't like them, she will buy this ring immediately. So I have to choose my words carefully, ha!

You're looks pretty awesome! She said I have to see it in person to understand, because it sparkles like a diamond, but it's green.

I inherited one from my mother - it looks like a darker green. I quite like it, but the band bling is uncomfortable for me:

LOL! I can understand why she likes it. It’s definitely different, I love the lighter shade.

I think that's just her iphone being weird. I don't think it's that light. I guess I'm going to go see it. I'm trying to convince her to collect edwardian platinum pieces with me. But I don't think I'm going to win ha!

Love it! If you get it come back with pictures!
