Hesitating between 3 diamonds: Help (including / Durability)

Hello!

I am about to be engaged and need to make a quick decision. I have selected 3 diamonds with the following features:
- 1.3-1.4 ct
- G
- VS1
- Excellent Cut

However, feathers and knots are mentioned on the GIA certificates and I am worried about durability - see links to certificates below.

Would you mind letting me know which one is most likely to be durable / whether I am right to worry?

Given that the 3 diamonds are quite similar, is there anything else I should consider to make my choice?

Many thanks!

Diamond 1 (1.33ct - GIA: 6147174548):

Re: Hesitating between 3 diamonds: Help (including / Durabil

This is the best one as far as I can tell by paper only.

The last stone is too deep and doesn't appear any larger than this one. The first one has too low a crown angle.

Are you able to get an idealscope image or picture of this stone? Or have you seen it in person, perhaps?

There are zero durability issues with VS1. Normally I cannot even see inclusions in a VS1 with a 10x loupe! G VS1 happens to be my personal favorite for an e-ring, too! That is what I have!

They all look pretty good and with the GIA certification you can't go wrong with any of these stones :)

GIA VS1 will not have clarity-based durability issues. Additionally, the grade-setting inclusions in the first two diamonds are crystals. The knot is tertiary in importance (diamond 1) and the feather is secondary (diamond 2). No worries.

All are interesting, and different in terms of potential appearance. All are candidates for AGS1 light performance.

Diamond 1 has angles I'd expect with a 60-60 make. The low crown angle and slightly smaller table balance each other somewhat. A 60-60 with a 32.5 degree CA would usually have a crown height of 13% or lower. This one will have more brightness in its balance of performance qualities than fire. There is no way to know how much variation there is in angles; the 41.0 degrees listed is an average of eight measurements that is further rounded to the nearest 0.2 by GIA. This could be an issue if some of the actual measurements stray too far over 41.0. There is also no way to know the level of 3D cut precision without additional information or images.

Diamond 2 has a table some would consider pretty small. That raises the crown height somewhat (the opposite of diamond 1), in this case in an angle combination that should promote great dispersion but may sacrifice a bit of brightness, which is why the AGS cut charts indicate this combination for a 1 in light performance instead of 0. But again, no decisive predictions are possible without knowing more about variance from the given (rounded) data, level of cut precision, etc.

As a side-note, the comment saying "H&A" was a manufacturer or seller request. They could have requested "D Flawless" or "Go Broncos" be inscribed and GIA would have done it. So the diamond may or may not exhibit a nice level of H&A precision. More info is needed.

I mention this because I'm involved in the Asian market, where there is wider education about cut-precision. Two prominent labs in China grade H&A so educated buyers of means frequently seek H&A diamonds. But GIA does not grade H&A. As a result, some manufacturers who serve Asia are requesting this inscription for every RB they produce. They do this because novice buyers may see the comment "H&A" on the GIA report and proceed under the false assumption that GIA says the diamond is a "H&A" diamond.

Very reassuring to note that durability is not a concern for any of these diamonds! Thanks all for your responses. I am now left to making a decision, which is not easy as it is a fair bit of money... I will keep you posted.

Re: Hesitating between 3 diamonds: Help (including / Durabil

Diamond 2 was no longer available so I did some further research and settled on a diamond with the folloing features:

GIA: 2151 1678 69
1.30ct
7.03mm x 7.06mm x 4.32mm
Table 56% - Depth 61.3% - Crown Angle 34.0 - Pavillon Angle 41.0 - No Culet
HCA: 1.3

I think this is a good choice but please let me knlw if I think it is not!

Thanks again all, your help is greatly appreciated and valued.
