It came across my Twitter feed yesterday and wow did I go down a rabbit hole.
Oh like you've never done this
I did google this.
Only thing I can come up with is ..... Odd..??
On the other hand I know a lot of bilingual people and everyone is so extremely different regarding their mother tongue ... I know people who still have a strong accent at 85 in spite of having moved at 19 years old. I know people who seem to have switched completely and now have a strong accent in their mother tongue (interestingly most of them emigrated to the US).
Or people who fall back into their accent when they have spoken to family back home... So it's nothing I've never experienced...
Oh like you've never done this
She was born and raised in Boston though
I find it funny.
Honestly, it's kind of a non event. So, she spent summers in Spain and is bilingual...but was, and is, a rich New England WASP by birth. Her heart, it's with Espana! I can't tell you how many girls in my high school had all manner of affectations like this. It was common. I guess I'm feeling kind of oh-kay Bitsy about it.
*It used to be de rigueur for starlets to make up some back story so that Norma Jean from wherever becomes a Star!.
Bwahahahahaaa.instead, he goes all Kevin Spacey Christmas video on it.
I knew a girl years ago who spent a summer in London styling hair in a fancy salon. When she came back she affected the accent.
This went on for quite some time. Everyone just acted like it was normal...but I thought she was weird.
I bet she's also faking that she actually likes Alec Baldwin!
