What a great site! I had these rings created for my wife and I. The Alexandrite hails from Tanzania. Hers contain .54 oval center stone accented with round brilliant alex mille's and diamonds. His contains .80 oval center stone accented with mille diamonds. Both stones have 90 % color change. Stones have been verified by GIA as natural Alexandrite. All comments are welcomed

WOW!!! Those are awesome bands!!! Very nice!! any pics showing the colour change in different lighting???

Great design choice - should keep the stone nice and safe from harm!

OMG - I LOVE them!! Who made them?

Really really nice!

A local Jewler in Orlando. He did everything in house from concept, wax, casting and stone placement. His is set in 12 karat. He insisted on 10-12 karat for durability reasons. Hers set in 585. Bezel is 10 karat. Said 18 karat was out of the question due to softness of metal and replacement cost of stones. He is from Columbia and he is very Reasonable. Took about a month due to him being inidated with trade work.

Very cool rings! More pics would be great :))

Amazing rings!!!

Good for you - they are beautiful. So what color do you see most of the time? Since there is a lot of mixed lighting, do you see a mix of the two colors, or primarily one over the other?

Her's displays bluish green with flashes of red pink daylight. Pen light displays violet pink. His displays green blue with red flash in daylight. Pen light displays blood red purple. Mixed lighting has green, yellow red and pink on both stones. The milles on hers are neon blue green daylight to neon red pink. I paid $789 per carat for the milles they are phenomenal. The main rough stone from which the milles were cut produced an eye clean cushon cut 4.97 carat stone that looked like it belonged in a museum.

AH!! Love that colour change--- don't be shy now... keep posting more pics!!! :lickout: :naughty:

That's so cool! The color changes are amazing, I've never seen anything like that before. Neat!!

Thank you to everybody for your comments. These rings have manifested a true interest in the forming of our earth. My wife and I do not share June birthdays. However, we are expecting a boy this June!! Don't know whether there is any correlation
with our wearing of this stone or not, though studies have indicated that alexandrite is supposed to bring good fortune and luck to its wearers

Alexandrite is such a fascinating stone - and it's not easy to reasonably sized stones that have decent color change - how cool that you have not one, but two great stones! I love the way you've come up with his-and-hers bands that echo rather than copy each other. What great (and attractive!) conversation pieces!

Congrats on your wife's pregnancy BTW. I hope the rings do indeed bring smooth pregnancy luck!

I love these - there is something very romantic about rings that match, but still retain some uniqueness. :))

Thanks, we're excited about the baby!!! Alot of people frown on the alexandrite that comes from Tanzania. I personally had the choice of Brazilian Alex and chose the Tanzanian because it was possessed better green colors and the color change was stronger. My gem dealer also had Russian varieties that were outrageous in price and had visable inclusions. I was told that alexandrite is way more valuable than diamonds and that it will eventually be depleated due industrial and consumer demand.

I've always loved alexandrite... maybe because I'm a June baby myself - but there is just something so special about this stone!

I LOVE these so much!!! Are they your wedding bands, or anniversary bands or "just because?" I'm curious!

Right hand rings celebrating one year marriage anniversary.

Do any members have any Alexandrite Jewelry they would mind sharing?

If you post in the CS forum you will get more responses as people over there (inlcuding myself) are a little colored stone crazy. You will also find many examples of Alex especially from a PS member called LD. I believe she has a few pieces and is the resident "alex expert".

Congrats on your rings. i love that they are different from the norm! Plus I personally think Alex is very romantic if a stone can be described as such! Great rings!

Great, thank you for the compliments. New to the site, still looking at alot of phenomenal gems!

Very beautiful! I love alexandrite, but you are right that good ones are very expensive!

Thanks, we think they suit our needs when it comes to not being overly showy.
