Thank you, all!
nkarma - it was a bit hair-raising getting everything we needed! We've been travelling since mid-March and when we left Australia all we had was a dress - which I ended up not wearing! I got my new dress 2 weeks before, followed by both pairs of shoes in the week following that; Mr P only got his suit 10 days before the wedding (but thank goodness for the wonderful Kenzo store director in Cannes who helped us get his perfect suit together!). 3 days before the wedding we were still running around Milan looking for a belt for him and a clutch bag for me!
mscushion, Malcesine is just beautiful, isn't it! We had dinner at Vecchia Malcesine - degustation menu was absolutely incredible. Having just the two of us gave us a lot more options and we are both desperately keen foodies, so we were delighted to find that our planner had booked us a Michelin starred restaurant! (and who would have thought there would be one in little Malcesine?!) Are you marrying in Torri del Benaco?
blackpaw I think we are a little bit twinny...from other threads too!
I know eloping or "pseudo-eloping" like we did (our families and close friends knew before we left for o/s) is not for everyone - but it was PERFECT for us! I think we broke most of the "rules" - we spent the day hanging out together, getting ready together, etc, and were only apart for 20 minutes (just long enough for Mr P to go to the castle and for me to slip into my dress and stress about forgetting my vows!).
I should add that 2 days later, my new in-laws converged on us en masse and stayed with us for a week in Tuscany. Not sure that it was the easiest way to start a new marriage, but we survived
