So what holiday presents are you getting for your man this year?

I took my BF out to the stores today and got him a new leather jacket. He not only wanted a new one, he NEEDED a new one - his current jacket was seven years old and literally falling apart.

I had to take him to pick it out and try it on, so the gift isn''t really a surprise. I''ve told him he can go ahead and start wearing it!

His b-day is also the 21st of this month, and he has a bunch of other gifts (DVD sets of House and Seinfeld, a few books, and some piano sheet music) that I will spread out over his b-day and Christmas.

For Christmas, I bought SO a pair of Clark''s (his absolute favorite shoes. He''s so funny about them being like "They look so British and awesome"), a new wallet I haven''t picked out yet
2.gif
, and probably a few nice dress shirts and ties since he will potentially have a few more interviews (but hopefully not!).

I''m also working on a scrapbook for him, but I''m not sure if it will get done in time. It''s very time consuming with me being as anal as I am about it. He''ll love it, though, when it is finally finished.

Leather jackets must be popular on Christmas lists this year, SO and his brother, BFF''s husband, and good guy friend all are asking for one!

I''m a newbie, but I''d thought I''d chime in.
This year I got him Guitar Hero III(completely sold out in stores, so had to get it on Ebay.)
I want to get him some seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm
I''m not too sure about what else to get him, but he''s usually happy with whatever I get him.

My BF''s birthday is December 12, so that means extra presents... it''s kind of nice, actually, because then the thing I just can''t wait to give him, I don''t have to!

I got him one of the Gap argyle sweaters that he so loved--we had to make a special trip for it since our local store was all out of his size, and he is very picky about his argyle. He loves it, but only certain colors, certain styles, otherwise I would have gone to Macy''s, but NO, it had to be that Gap sweater! Anyway, I digress. It''s wrapped and under the tree, so no problem.

Other than that, a new tie ("One tie a year is good"--his words), some socks, some pajama pants (jeez it''s cold in Minnesota right now), and the thing I am most excited about: a USB drive. He keeps borrowing mine for doing presentations for school, but no more!

I feel highly productive about my Christmas shopping; only 2 more presents to get, and we have good ideas for both. The rest are either ordered or already wrapped as of today! And not only that, but my graduate class wrapped up yesterday, so I''m almost free for the rest of the month except for work. Yay!

I am getting BF a digital camera. He loves to travel, but he is perpetually buying disposables or borrowing mine. Even though I''m happy to share mine with him, it is very old and technology has improved so much. A travel buff should have a nice camera to record his trips, right? I hope he''ll like it! Anyone have a relatively compact one that they particularly like? I''m trying to keep it under $150... I don''t think he needs maximum bells and whistles, and I am a starving grad student.

I''m so jealous of you girls who can get your SOs clothes as presents! Mine has specified (on more than one occasion) that he HATES getting clothes as presents and that it''s not a fun gift at all. So it wipes out a whole category of possible presents.

A digital camera is a great idea, my BF doesn''t have one either and he''s scared that if he borrows mine, he''ll break it. Off to search for starving-student-friendly digicams...LazyDaisy, if you don''t mind me piggybacking off your idea, I promise that if I find something good I''ll post it here for you!

Octavia: i know what you mean about M and not wanting clothes for Christmas...he just doesnt think that clothes are a gift..so thats outa the picture for me too...

BUT anyways...i already gave him his gift, why, well becasue hes been really good this year especially when it came to the numerous LIW moments ive had with him...and secretly im hoping itll speed up his proposal...

haha no but seriously, i topped the Girlfriend of the year within our group this year because i got M a brand spanking new 80GB PLAYSTATION 3!!!! yea that sucker does not come cheap (almost $600)! ive been saving for a while to be able to afford it but it was worth it and he loves it...so why did he get it a month before Christmas...well...

2 years ago i got him a PSP (the handheld playstation) and i gave it to him on Christmas well because of all the hecticness surrounding the holidays he rarely played it and with the PS3 i wanted him to have time to play so i gave it to him before the holidays!!

well he loves his gift...i swear he looked like a happy 10 year old skipping out of best buy the night i bought it for him!!

I think I am going to get SO a coffee machine he loves coffee and I think having proper stuff on tap will make him happy :)

i got my BF an ipod. not the new touch screen one, but the ginormous 80gb. this is actually to replace the one that got stolen out of my car a month ago. i''m so excited to give it to him, because he had just bought the thing for himself when it got stolen and was really upset about losing that much money. but the best part is that he''s totally NOT expecting it!!! he keeps talking about maybe buying another one in february.
31.gif
hehehe!!!

I got mine 4 CDs, a documentary DVD that he'd wanted and the new 30gb Creative MP3/video player. The Creative is like an iPod, only you're not limited to filling it through iTunes - and it has a 4" square screen so you can actually watch movies and shows on it. He's a musician, so anything musical or multimedia are big hits with him. I am also toying with getting him a bar blender - the big momma blenders that can chop ice - because he doesn't have one and likes Margaritas and Rum Runners but hates going to bars to get them (his rationale is, "I play music in bars. Why do I want to waste what little free time I have in bars?").

That doesn't sound like a lot of stuff, but last year, he thought I went overboard with shopping for him. Last year, I bought him a steamed cheeseburger machine (which he has coveted but would never buy for himself), more CDs and a pair of snakeskin cowboy boots. Those boots had to be custom-ordered, since he wears a size 15 wide shoe - which is actually a small foot for a guy who is 6'6" and 310 pounds. Yes, he really is that big! I am 5'7" and maybe 140 pounds and can hide behind him - and if I hug him, I am literally at armpit level on him. I always loved big men and especially love mine - but I envy you ladies that can buy your men clothes in stores. My boyfriend has to shop at either Big and Tall or at a few places where he knows they carry extra long shirts and pants with 38" inseams. And he can be a little bit of a picky diva when it comes to clothes. He is very particular.
20.gif
. So clothes? I usually don't bother.

The boots were a meaningful present for me to get for him - and when I shop for people, I choose meaning over flash and cost. When he was much younger, he had a pair of snake boots that his father got him in Texas that he'd wear onstage. After a show in this one club, he was changing...and went to get his boots...and they were gone. Someone stole his boots! He never got around to getting another pair. Last summer, we were going through some old pictures of his and I saw a picture of him and the boots and thought, "Ah HA!" For a pic of the boots, check the photo at the bottom of this post. It was a worthwhile spend, I thought. So, I resolved to spend much less this year, but still get him what he wanted.

This is NOT good for me...

I knew my BF wanted Guitar Hero III, so I ordered it early and have it under our tree. Well I was going over to his parents house today, and asked him what I should tell his mom that he wants for christmas... we''ll he says, "I already told her GH III, so I''m not really sure." OMG, HOLY CRAP!!! So he told his mom and me that he wanted the exact same things!!! What do I do now?? I told her that I would just buy another guitar for it, but it just won''t be the same. He said he wanted a tool set, so I think I''m going to go with that... but I wasn''t planning on spending that much money. Is anyone giving cute little gifts, along with a nicer gift?

I feel you on this one! K is 6''7" and wears size 16 EEEE shoes! I always thought I was tall at 5''9", but he dwarfs me.

I got us a cute Christmas ornament engraved with our names on it that I''m going to give him when we decorate the tree next weekend. The other two gifts were a nice salt mill (K and I are both HUGE foodies, so most of our gifts to each other tend to be kitchen related--he gave me an awesome Peugeot pepper mill for my birthday, so this is the matched salt mill. I''m actually really hoping we didn''t get each other the same thing!), and I knit him a fair isle tube scarf. Now I just have to be patient and wait for Christmas to come around so he can open them!

I got him a timbuk2 bag-in-a-box gift certificate, wine glasses (more of a "sorry" gift than anything - I''m a klutz and I keep breaking them!), a couple of books I think he''ll enjoy, and the wii game he''s been pining after for MONTHS but hasn''t yet bought. I may throw in one or two little things if I run across them at a good price. I''m big on bargain shopping

.

I got Fi a new card wallet, a new belt, an ansel adams calendar, Christmas TV favorites DVD, some CDs, a bunch of books about MGs (FI bought one last summer), an MG teeshirt, some under armour shirts, I''m also going to get him some new button downs and polos as well as things like boxers, socks, and undershirts. And his big presents *snore* is an air compressor (I think). He really wants one but has never gotten around to buying one for himself. So I''m going to get it for him. I might get some of the tools for it too but it depends on how much the compressor costs.

Why is it that girl gifts are SO much more exciting than guy gifts? I mean really, an AIR COMPRESSOR???

I got my BF a Garmin GPS and I think he's going to be completely surprised!! He mentioned wanting one casually a couple of times but I don't think he believed that I would buy one for him.
I'm actually going to give it to him 2 weeks before Christmas because he's taking me away to a B&B in Vermont next weekend (for a combo 2 year anniversary and early Christmas present) so I am going to give it to him before we leave and then we can use it to get to the B&B!

He's going to be so excited to use his new toy right away!! And I can't wait to see the look of surprise on his face
36.gif

I think I am probably going to get him a GPS navigation system, but I''m not totally sure.

BF''s birthday is on the 13th and he already got his gift - an lcd television for his office. For Christmas he''ll get the wall mount for the tv, along with a few other small gifts.

He and his co-workers are always having "wars" where they throw wads of paper at each other. To help him out in battle I found a working scale model of a catapult that can be used to launch things up to 15 feet.

I got my boy Rock Band for his xbox 360. Actually looking forward to playing myself

For Christmas, I bought SO a pair of Clark''s (his absolute favorite shoes. He''s so funny about them being like ''They look so British and awesome'')
Lol, ALL my shoes are Clarks!

I HATE shoe shopping and know that Clarks fit my feet - especially their K brand - they are also really well made and last for ages. I have very, very high insteps, wide feet and tiny feet for my height, so shoe shopping is a nightmare as I have to have straps on my shoes and most places the straps are too short to fit. Geez, I sound like a complete freak here
31.gif
- anyhow I have been know to buy their shoes in 3 different colours of one style!

I''m getting FI a small KATA camera bag - he had the huge one for his birthda;, a KATA camera protector shield for bad weather, dust storms etc

Then a new jumper and a bottle of Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta.

He normally gets some silly bits and pieces as well - but I try to buy useful!

I''ve already had most of my xmas present - my african pygmy hedgehog ''Lego'', who has gone from being the nastiest beast on earth (I gotten bitten at least 30 times and she just huffed if I even looked at her!) to the sweetest, cuddliest baby. It has taken 5 months of hard work to get there, but so worth it!

I''m getting him a tie from Southernproper.com (it''s the navy magnolia one) and a green sweater from Vineyard Vines. He''s very into dressing preppy, so buying for him gets a bit expensive!

That is such a great idea, my FI does the same thing and it kind of drives me crazy when I can''t find it or his files are all over it etc... I think I might have to copy you on this one. I''m having a hard time this year because he wants a new Mac laptop (too much $$$ for just me) so he''s pretty much asking everyone for money. It''s so impersonal to give him cash, but all he really wants is the laptop. I''ve talked to him a little bit and said that I wanted to wait and see how much he gets and then if I can afford the difference, I''ll do that, but then it takes away the fun of having something wrapped for him on Christmas day...

D wants some fishing gear but he wants to pick it out so as soon as he does, then that''s his present sorted. He hates surprises!! I''m also going to NY in January so I''ll get him some shirts and trousers there.

I got mine this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7135977&type=product&id=1110263641314

It controls like 15 different devices and he really wanted one. I would have never paid that much for a remote control for myself though... but as long as he''s happy.
legacy my BF got us that too (he''s an installer for best buy). he loves and swears by them. one button turns on everything, it''s really worth the money! great gift!!!

My BF just got graduated and got his first "big boy" engineering job (I''m SO proud of him

!) and his business cards just came in. He loves bicycling, and before his new job he worked at a bike shop for 4 years. So, I was delighted when I found a business card holder and picture frame made out of recycled bike parts for his office!

I got my fiance a white gold money clip engraved with his initials for christmas. His birthday is on December 21st, but he already got his gift. It was a combo b-day/anniversary present, an automatic Swiss watch.

I bought him a windshield for his harley. Those of you that missed that, I bought him the Harley this summer. I think my penance is paid...

I got my FI Bruins (hockey) tickets. We usually don''t exchange gifts for Christmas or our birthdays -- instead, we buy tickets to a show or a concert or something and go out to dinner before hand. This is done throughout the year, whenever we see a show we''d like to go to. This year though we''ll be spending Christmas day with my family and we thought it would look weird for everyone else to be exchanging gifts and not do it ourselves.

We had decided to just get a little something small for gifts and try to go out of town for a few days as our Christmas presents. However... It looks like it will most likely just be the "getting a little something" with no trip.

I haven''t bought his gift yet but I am planning to try to get something for his truck that he bought a few months ago. He really likes those little cover things that go over the tops of the windows on the doors so you can roll the window down a little bit in the summer without having to worry about rain or people getting into the vehicle. His doesn''t have them on it but he wanted them (at least I think he did haha). So I''m going to try to find some for his truck. He is also needing some floor mats (he wants the expensive ones though so I don''t know if I''ll be able to get those). We live in the south so I probably can''t go wrong getting truck accessories lol. He''s also mentioned a couple cds and dvds that he''d like so I may get something like that. And then whatever little small gift I can find for a stocking stuffer.

Also, I would like to say... What is it with December 21st birthdays? I think there have been two ladies on here who''s BF''s bdays are the 21st. Mine is the 21st also.

Well, I''m having the absolute worst luck with my SO''s presents...

I ordered another one of his presents online, and once I got my confirm via email it said that it was a "pre-order" and will be sent out Dec. 26!!!! OMGosh... what did I do that was so wrong to deserve this?!?! Guess I just need to try harder...
