so i know there have been a couple of threads about LIW''s possibly getting engaged by the end of the year..and since thanksgiving is next week i thought it be fun to see whose waiting to close the engagements of 2007...

Provided this thread is about WISHING for an engagement by the close of 2007 and not anticipating it specifically because B/F said it would indeed happen by the end of the year, consider me a wisher, a dreamer, a hoper, overcooked and overdone.

I’m starting to get to the point where I think it may never happen and I’ll forever remain a lady who wishes upon every star in the sky

, every weekend adventure

, every morning

, noon

and night

Despite my sadness, I continue to hope, wish and keep the faith that my time will come sooner than I could ever imagine.

Here’s hoping to a holiday full of magic, romance and surprises for all of us ladies in waiting!

Count me in. Not by Thanksgiving, but definitely by the end of the year (or so he says)! I''m trying not to get too excited just yet.

I am also in the *wishing* category.. no definite engagement for me by the end of the year. HOWEVER, I''m starting to get my hopes up (even though I know better) and finding hidden meaning in everything he says.

For example, when we first had our serious timeline/ring talk, he said he wanted me to pick out the EXACT ring I wanted, diamond, setting, and all, even though I really wanted him to choose the setting so it would still be somewhat of a surprise. Recently, he asked me some kind of ring related question and I told him to let me know when he was ready to buy so we could pick it together, and he told me that he changed his mind and didn''t want me involved! Then he said "I don''t want you to know when it''s coming". He''s also been asking me how big my friends rings are when we see them out "how many carats is that?", etc. It''s quite funny to hear him talk about those things, especially his comment "how come so-and-so''s ring isn''t sparkly?". LOL. At least he pays attention to detail.

My last "reading-into-it-too-much" thought is whenever we talk about Christmas or I ask him what he wants, he doesn''t ask me what I want.. I''m really hoping this Christmas doesn''t turn out like last year (if any of you saw my story LOL)! Hopes are up!

I''m expecting a beautiful ring by the end of 2007. Maybe for my birthday next Friday? I don''t really think so though, Christmas probably. The days are dragging by and the anticipation is killing me, but at least an end is in sight!

I think mine either has the ring or is looking for the ring now. I''m finding a lot of catalogs from mall jewelers and I saw one with a business card in his truck. Plus he keeps telling me he''s going to make this a very special Christmas for me.

If it does happen I really hope there is a return policy wherever he gets the ring. He has no idea how to pick diamonds and I bet he has no idea what I want. I''ll be happy though, we''ve been together for 5 years and I''m getting a little anxious. Every day that goes by I seem to be getting a little more crazy about it happening.

I am hoping for a Thanksgiving weekend proposal. It''s funny, never in my life would I have imagined getting engaged Thanksgiving weekend. Not that I''m complaining!

I have been counting down the days all month. It''s really been the longest month of my whole entire life! I have to confess something really embarassing since I do not want my friends or family to know... I have been so anxious about the whole thing that I ended up in the urgent care center last week with a whole lot of pain from TMJ (brought about from clenching my teeth when I am sleeping). I know I know, relax and enjoy it but that is just not in my makeup. I need to find a way to make it through this week. At least they gave me a shot of muscle relaxer and some medication.

I hope lots of people here get a holiday proposal. This is such a nice time of year.

Oooooh, I so don''t want to put a mozz on it, but we had the timeline discussion last week, cause his version of soon was different to mine (sound familiar lol!). Anway, I was asking for a time and had said something about 2 years and he told me of course within the next two years and I almost went off the deep end (crazy I know) but he had said soon and that wasn''t my idea of soon. Anway, we had a discussion READ: me crying, him feeling bad and then he whispered, well can you wait 2 months then!! OMG, I could hear the blood pumping in my head! I said well, it''s 6 weeks till Christmas!! Later on the couch, he turns around to me and says very thoughtfully - well, there is a lot to get done in December isn''t there. Yes!!!!!! Hopefully there is!! Fairy dust to everyone else waiting for a sparkly before Christmas!!!

i was told "before the end of the year" but he knows i wouldn''t want a christmas or new years eve proposal. i''m thinking maybe a few weeks from now, early December, something sort of holiday related, but not ON the actual holiday. something is holding him up, i think with the creation/jeweler process, because he keeps insisting it is "forces beyond his control". whatever the reason, i believe in a few short weeks i''ll be sporting some first class BLING!

After a night of drinking I asked him if he was going to remember to make the payment on it (he''s horrible with money, that''s why I take care of all of it!) as a reminder, and kinda snuck in my two cents about not wanting to pay for something I''ve never even seen before. So - he says to me in a rather suspicious way that he needs to wait until he has some extra money (which he has now because of a monster comission check) and it will probably be after the holidays! I felt my stomach drop and wanted to just burst into tears, but the look in his eye told me he was lying to throw me off. Thank god I found this board, I now know I''m not the only one who is waiting!

Here''s hoping it will be sooner than later!

After his savings being wiped out for school at the end of October i dont know if he is saving up for a ring or trying to find another way to pay for it. He might be at work working his butt off but i have no idea. We havent talked about it since the end of october so i guess that i will have to ask him about it again.

I still think back to the end of october when he said to me about how if he wouldnt have had to use his money for school that he would have asked me because he was going to. ahhh.. heart throbbing moment right there! I was so happy when he said that but crushed at the same time! So i am pretty sure that he wants to ask as soon as he has the money which if he planned on asking me by the end of october then i am sure that he is trying to get his stuff together to ask me before or by the new year.

He kept some of the money in his savings so he doesnt need to resave all of it. it will have been about 2 - 2 1/2 months since he had to start resaving so maybe he is working extra hard. who knows, maybe he has the money and only needed a little bit for school? He has been acting weird ever since the money issue so maybe he is actually planning something...but i did get the following comments and clues.....are you ladies ready?.........

So I got him this picture frame for our anniversary.. it was kind of for the both of us...it had a literal little stone on the top part of it with a painted on band, so it was an engagement ring. and the bottom part says, ''We''re Engaged!" with some sort of other picture thing at the bottom. He replied with "oh, we are going to have to put this to use sometime soon here'' awww..

then........... I was in his room and i saw that he had recieved mail from a local jeweler. It just had a few flyers and stuff from the store. And then.....I saw that he got credit card info from capital one. he said before that he would buy some stuff with it so that his credit score would be better. so if he wanted to get a card from the jewelers he would be able to get a larger amount on credit from the store or if he wanted to get out a loan....hmmm...sneaky sneaky. i did surprise him at his house last week so he might have not had time to hide the stuff. i am sure he has other stuff hidden cuz i am a snoop at times!

PS: Sorry so much for the long post! I guess that the story is i am expecting it by year''s end! A new year''s or christmas proposal sounds soooo romantic!

Ok, so no surprise proposal on Thanksgiving (he said he wouldn''t but I thought there was a possibility he was trying to throw me off) but I did notice that he''s got an entry on his calendar for this Friday (Nov. 30) that says "Dinner?"

OMG! Last time we talked he mentioned something about doing it by Dec. 1, but knowing him I thought he really meant Jan. 1 and just misspoke. I''m trying not to freak out. Seriously. Not doing such a great job though.
