OK Ladies my turn to start the thread today. Thought we could all swap tips about how to keep our figures under a little control this week and next, but so we can also have a good time!

I plan to eat what I want on Christmas Eve, Xmas Day and the day after and get back on the straight and narrow after that. I will also continue to eat as normally as I can for breakfast etc and keep drinking the water to help me not overdo it, but I will have what I want to eat. I don''t drink alcohol so that isn''t a prob with the calories there. I will also try to keep as active as I usually am and hope this will exert some damage control.

Where are you Matatora? Enjoying your new ring I bet!

I''m still sleeping. And I can''t get to the gym unless I find someone to drive me. Ironic, eh? Drive to go running. I''m getting flabbier by the day.

And water''s a great idea! It really works. What I found that works the best for me is the high fiber diet. It keeps me feeling full and I lost 5 pounds by eating Quakers Weight Control oatmeal every morning to control my appetite during the day. I also read somewhere that people who eat an egg at breakfast consume fewer calories throughout the day. I''m about to try that soon too.

Cinderella- I love that Weight control oatmeal too- yummy!! I''ve been so good all season, and now I went and did my cookie baking on Sunday- so yesterday I was bad and didn''t work out!! Now to keep my mitts off those things til Christmas- and to keep up my work outs this week. I''m trying more cardio and added pilates for something new. Now for a good arm routine? Any ideas all?

I aim for 2 litres of water a day, it takes some getting used to but now it is routine. Fills me up and my complexion looks great, in fact all my skin looks good, it really works. Thankfully it is a daily habit now, I don''t have to force myself anymore to drink it. It is amazing how it curbs your appetite too.

the only bad thing about drinking tons of water is then i am always going to the bathroom!!

i eat a fiberish cereal breakfast typically, so that it helps keep me full til around 1pm when i have lunch....either cracklin oat bran or honey puffed kashi works for me. and my cup of coffee of course!

for lunches i typically eat salads, but lately i have been eating soups and sometimes not so healthy stuff depending but i really try to keep my breakfast and lunches with healthy stuff so that if i splurge on a yummy dinner then i don't really feel guilty, i mean 1 out of 3 meals is not bad at all to have some extra fat grams...hehee.

the problem is that we have alot of sweets in the house right now and i adore hot chocolate in the winter. we found the best new hot chocolate so i have it like 2ce a week which is a problem. it's like a whole day of fat in one cup!

and i haven't even opened the sees box!

for me, i am not going to really resist at all this whole entire week and probably most of next week...because when we are off or around the house more and together, we just eat more stuff and not healthily typically. also i know that after the holidays it will go back to being normal. so as long as i can maintain for the next few weeks it will be fine. i didn't gain any weight at thanksgiving and that was a veritable hodgepodge of overeating for a whole week straight. but i got right back into my workouts.

tonite is the last day my kickboxing gym is open til next week, yikes! i am going tonite and then going to try to walk a little bit each day until friday....and then go back to class first thing next monday and go my full 3 times next week before the NYE. that way i will not feel guilty if i am being active and eating.

just keep it up with the workouts and be active and you should be okay with maintenance for a few weeks if you slip a bit during the holidays. i had my first mashed potatoes this weekend since thanksgiving and they were DIVINE. can anyone say three sticks of butter?

Hey Mara, I remember you''re from the Bay Area too, and I was just wondering which kickboxing gym you go to. My membership with mine expires in January, but I''ve stopped going because it''s so yucky there; the minute you walk in, you''re nearly overwhelmed by the musty sweat lingering in the air and they don''t open the door or windows for ventilation. Oh, and everyone is required to go barefoot, but they only wipe down the mats once a week. Gross.

The egg thing really does work. I try to do that on weekends and when I have a weekday off. I just do one egg with a little salt and pepper. I heard basically just having protein in your breakfast makes the difference. But so does the fiber. I think a good breakfast can me the key though. The other thing I try to be more conscious of is if I have a bowl of cereal, I measure the portion...because when I fill up a bowl its WAY more than a portion! Sometimes its more than two!

But the holidays are hard...I''m trying to stay on top of going to the gym, but when it is like 0 degrees outside its hard to motivate myself after I''m home and all warm! I don''t really limit what I eat at holiday meals, I''m not going to keep track of the cookies or toffee or anything...that''s what I work out the rest of the year for. But my other meals I do keep pretty healthy.

I''m here! Some people came to work on the house this morning (and I am shy) so I only did weights before running back upstairs this morning...such a nerd! But I plan on working out with Jeffrey tonight, he is VERY fit (about 12 steps past my goal) and it is something we can do together and really enjoy.

I am trying to up my water intake agian, for some reason when I come home I really lay into the diet coke (somedays as many as 36-40) which is rotten. So I bought some water bottles to make it easy to just grab a water and go back to what I was doing.
Plus Sized Yoga sounds great, I never knew they had it for those of us with the bellies....I will have to see what I can find.

Cinderella, I go to Ernie Reyes Karate gyms...they teach karate and kickboxing there....they are all over the Bayarea...I used to go to the one on San Tomas but now I go to the one in Willow Glen since we moved and it''s about 5 minutes from me. I LOVE how they are so close because there are so many of them.

The karate instructors teach the classes so you get a good education on how to punch and kick and there is less emphasis on just throwing arms and legs out as there is really learning the moves and using them to burn the most calories. The WG gym seems better at this than San Tomas, we actually hit bags here at WG whereas the ST one was just air punching and more emphasis on cardio than the boxing.

The classes are HARD and they really push you. I am always exhausted when I finish. I don''t know how some of these gals go 4 or 5 days a week, I go twice or three times and I feel tired inbetween!!

I also have had gym memberships but I find that focusing on this is more cost effective and I have learned alot more doing this for a few years than doing gym work for years before that, I feel stronger and like I could ''defend'' myself if I have to now that I know the moves, the workout is intense and fun and it burns the calories. I highly recommend it!
