I got an email about a week ago, you know the kind where it's been passed on by a squllion people, and it claimed that the whole Tomkat thing is a set up. It said that Tom Cruise and Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) were found in bed together by Rob Thomas' wife. Thomas is also a scientologist. She was paid off by the church of scientology to keep quiet about it. Then the church quickly made up a list of 5 b grade actreses who wouldn't say no to an offer to be Tom's girl for 5 years for a very big sum of money. The list included Lindsay Lohan but Katie was chosen to be the 'Lucky Girl'. When Thomas' wife found out about the this plan to keep Tom in the closet by setting him up in a fake relationship, she chucked a wobbly and has been letting everyone know about it.

Complete rubbish? I have no doubt that it is. I wonder who thinks up such codswollop?

You have got to be kidding me! That is one of the scariest interviews I have ever read. I feel so sorry for her, I hope her family can intervene in some way. She has been completely brain washed and has that psycho woman probably with her 24/7. I don''t see how this can be fake considering that it can only be hurting her career, I know that when you are a b-list actress any publicity is usually considered good publicity, but this is way beyond anything I have ever seen. I am so disturbed now. I''m going to have to go look at some diamond eye candy to avoid the nightmares.

I think it''s sad and I feel for Katie''s parents who are very much against Scientology. To me the whole thing sounds creepy. I hope she wakes up soon and runs like he*l away!!!!!!

I grew up in LA and know people in the entertainment world. There have always been very persistent rumours about certain male stars being bi sexual or gay. I am not prejudiced, do not care what goes on between consenting adults...but there are people in the higher echelons of the studios who believe that most of the public will not watch romantic movies with leading men who are gay or bi. There is a list a mile long of these stars...I also heard that Katie was handpicked, and that she is getting 5 million and there is not to be any sex. (I wonder how they will produce children...will they adopt too?) I am not sure at all about the Rob Thomas story, but rumours of Tom Cruise are nothing new...I just feel sorry for Katie because she seems to be like a deer in the headlights and maybe be ruining her life and not even realize it.

Like you, I don''t give a flying hoot if a person is gay or not. I am even referred to as a ''fag hag'' because I have so many gay friends. I watched the movie Six Days/Seven Nights (or whatever it was called) with Anne Heche and Harrison Ford. Knowng she was gay didn''t stop me from wanting to go see it nor did it make her part unbelievable in my eyes. Just like the guy who plays Will in Will & Grace isn''t gay in real life, doesn''t mean that I don''t think the role he plays is lessened because he''s straight.

Whether we like it or not though, many people out there are homophobic and gay stars (just like your every day person on the street) feel have to hide the fact they are gay.

As for Tom and Kate.....who knows what''s really going on there. The romantic in me wants to believe it''s true love and that they are completely smitten with each other....... but the cynic in me......hmmmmm.

Sparkster, I agree. It is called acting, so a gay guy should be able to play straight and be convincing. I recall seeing a movie with Ellen Degeneres where she is looking to get married and even before she came out, I did not think she had the right chemistry with the male leads...it was not a great part for her....she is better in the sit com type role, or being herself. I think it is the stufio crap that makes these stars feel they have to hide out. There are magazines that love to "out" these stars, and are angry that they are hiding and using the opposite sex as beards. Maybe there are some small minded people out there who would not want to see Tom Cruise as a romantic lead if they knew he was gay...but that is not the view of all of us! Personally, if a person can act well, I can be transported by their performance and not be focused on their personal life. That being said, I do not need to know the gory details of anyone''s life, gay or straight!!

You know, I might not be totally up to speed on everything going on with these 2, but everything that I have read about Katie''s parents seem to say that they are supporting her and this relationship. So what gives with that? I would like to think that they would voice their opposition to what she is doing if indeed they are opposed, but maybe they are getting paid too?!?!?!?

My DH and I are in San Francisco this weekend, and are actually staying at a hotel not far from the Church of Scientology, near Chinatown. It is a beautiful building...these people have some serious cash from the looks of it. We walked by this afternoon not totally aware of the fact that it was their building, and a woman says to us, "oh, hello, we are giving free personality tests today, would you like to come in?". After we walked by I turned around and told my DH that it was the Church of Scientology. He started laughing and says he should have just told them that he already knows that I am a psycho and that I am on strong medication to fix it.

I am not sure either, but maybe the parents, even if they are not thrilled, do not want to risk losing their daughter by being too vocal in the press. I have heard her dad is anti scientology, but that is all I have heard. You could have told the woman you have post partum and had to run to the pharmacy to fill your prescription!!!! I think it is just odd that she does not say much anymore (Katie) and that she seems to be almost a zombie or stepford wife. I do not think she will be too happy for long, but I would love to be wrong...

Right after I graduated from high school, a guy I had graduated with and his girlfriend from the same area, left for California. They got hooked up with a group much like the Scientology crowd is being described. This young man was a very intelligent and seemingly level headed person from a very wealthy family. The cult members soon brainwashed he and his girlfriend, never leaving them alone. They pushed them to go to their families for more money, but would not allow them to have any relationship with them, keeping them very isolated from everything with which they were familiar.

The parents of these two got together and had their children kidnapped and deprogrammed. They felt that was their only option. I remember seeing the guy and the deprogrammer interviewed on local TV. More than once the interviewer asked "how can this happen to an intelligent stable person?". The guy replied that initially there were promises of a great life with this group which seemed to make sense, but it became an isolated prison, with no contact with the outside world. Their sense of reality was altered greatly because the cult let them hear and see only what would support the cults underlying principles. It did not help that they were naive, trusting people when they met up with this cult.

I feel very sorry for anyone who has been so obviously programmed as this woman (Kate Holmes) has been.
