Hopefully looking at asschers this weekend!

So, after my experience of trying on a ridiculously expensive 8+ carrat asscher ring last weekend, I''ve gone asscher crazy!

My bf wants to get me a sparkly ring, and the 8+ carrat definitely sparked, so we want to see how a lower carrat asscher will look.

We just happen to be going to get my watch fixed which is on 57th Street -- lucky for me, it just happens to be right near Tiffany''s and Harry Winston''s and Van Clef & Arpels! Hopefully, I''ll have me a little try on party!

A good friend of mine (sort of a mother figure) is convinced that he''s going to propose for my birthday (April). I hope she''s right -- I''m starting to get a little nutty. Her partner is a jeweler -- he says he can get me a stone and set it in about a week! So, hopefully, the looking will end soon. However, getting a little nervous because now we may go to Las Vegas in May and I''m worried that he''ll treat me to that as my bday present. Not that I wouldn''t love that... but I certainly would love a ring more!

ooohhhh, Harry Winston.....I''ve never had the nerve to go in! Asschers are my dream stone- I''ll be keeping my fingers crossed for an April proposal for you!

AmmayerNyc, good luck and tell us how it went!!! I know that Fortunoff''s on Fifth is a Royal Asscher dealer if you want to see any of the branded stones....and I''m sure that Harry Winston will have some to knock you out. On a browsing/tryon trip in Nov. my bf and I also went into Cartier for fun just to stare--I think there was like a 13 carat EC if I recall.

Okay, didn''t make it to Harry Winstons, but did go looking someplace else. And the verdict is... not sparkly enough. They were so beautiful, but we always came back to sparklier rings. And since the bf is buying the ring...
I still think they are awesome though!!!

So which stones were sparklier? Any decisions made yet? I''m always curious about what the BFs think are great, so what did he have his eye on?

One of these days I''ll start a post "girls vs. boys.. deciding which ring is "THE ONE" " since I''m always amazed at how different my BF & I think about cuts, color-sensitivity and settings....

The one he definitely loves the most is a RB with pear sidestones. He likes the way it flows across my finger, but that you can definitely tell that it is three diamonds. These rings were so sparkly that I had spots in my eyes for about an hour after we left the store!

I tried on a very square emerald with a pave band that I absolutely loved. But I also love the RB as well. I''d be happy with whatever he gave me really. I don''t really have a favorite! I just know what I don''t like.
