How bad is the window in this sapphire?

The latest sapphire I am contemplating adding to my collection. I like the colour and size (2.34 carats) and that it is unheated. What I don’t like is the transparency and the large window. Could this be hidden with a good setting? Thanks!

What is wrong with transparency?
Window? Maximum "tilted window"...

The only thing I dislike is the inclusion ( second pic 6 o'clock)

I agree - I can't not see that inclusion, which to me is apparent in every photo.

I like transparency but it looks so clear that it is almost see through! And I don’t mind the inclusion because the stone is eye clean (this picture is shown magnified).

Judging by the photo, it seems that the sapphire doesn't have a window, maybe only a tilt window as suggested by @Nosean. What it does have is that half & half extinction. That alone would rule it out in my book (that type of extinction drives me nuts which is why I tend to avoid non-precision cut elongated shapes) but combined with the inclusion it would be a definite no for me. A 2ct sapphire is a big purchase, so better make sure you love the stone and are 100% sure it's "the one". If you already have doubts, then keep looking.

Hi, what does half and half extinction mean? Thank you!

This is when half of the stone looks dark (extinct) but the other half is light. This is due to the elongated shape of the stone as well as the cut of the pavilion and culet.

Here are a couple of threads you may wish to look at:

Your sapphire would perhaps not be considered fully half/half because the dark part still shows some color, but my personal preference is to avoid the cuts/shapes that tend to exhibit this characteristic. Although, many people can accept this type of extinction so it's really up to each person's preference.

I can't tell if it has a window or not because none of your pics are straight face on. You have to put the stone absolutely straight underneath the camera and not on any sort of angle to see a window properly.

I don’t have the stone. These are the vendor’s photos.

It is also possible that the sapphire has some slight very gradual color zoning, thus it appears more "transparent" in some areas. Some parts of the stone may be a bit lighter in color than other parts but since the color zones are very gradual, you won't see a distinct line.

The window is really just the photos - the table of the stone and the lens have to be at a 90 degree angle to be able to judge whether or not it exhibits a window. Flower cut pavilions (like the stone above has) can actually remove windows in stones shallower than more standard step cuts could, but that's not always the case so it's best to ask for a proper direct photo.
