How can I stop my . from coming for 1 month?

Also just want to point out that when starting any hormonal BC you''re advised to use back up protection for the first month until your body adjusts to it. I really don''t think you have time to start BC to prevent your . even if you wanted to.

I would give the cup a try.

Hey EM1. My doctor took me off the pill for various reasons as well. I''d be interested to know if there was another way to do this without going back on it..... Just in case, KWIM?

Okay...Well... I don''t want to be too TMI here, but I don''t quite see a way around it.

It would be unfortunate to have your period during your wedding, as it *can* be hassle... but if you have it during your honeymoon, don''t let it get in the way of your fun. For real! I mean, if you feel really, really squeamish about it all, then, well that''s difficult to change. But often, if you use a tampon up until you want to "be active" and don''t wait too long before... er... removal & insertion of... well... something else... Then you won''t really bleed during the act. Different people feel different about this, and it takes both partners to be on-board... But really, it does not result in a total, awful, gross mess. Lay out a towel and shower afterwards.

Eep. Hoping I didn''t cross the line too much with this post. But its just something to think about! Don''t let it ruin your fun- you only get one honeymoon!

i know changes in diet/amount of exercise/and stress can all mess with when it starts, but there''s no way i know of to know how that''d affect it, or how much. i''d like to vote for the not starting bc right now. there''s a chance you wouldn''t have any side effects, but not one i''d bank on if it was me.

i hope the doc has an answer for you, but if not the softcup looks promising.

I'm not sure if you're on BC or not, but I'm not and we're taking our HM 2 weeks after the wedding, so I'm almsot screwed either way. lol. If you figure something out, PLEASE share with the rest of us.

Ditto! I'm off the pill now and my body's adjusting back to being normal, and I'm LOVING it. Getting married within a year hopefully, and there's no way to plan the date around a . right now. I'd love to know what your doctor says lauralu!

And lauralu, I''m interpreting your question differently than most responders have, but you sound like you''re not on BC now and don''t prefer to get back on it - is that right? Many of the responses are only offering advice as if you''re on BC now. Please correct me if I''m wrong.

If I''m interpreting correctly, I don''t have a good solution yet. But I recall someone posting recently to one of my threads about getting off BC... they mentioned a shot or something you can get... I''ll check and come back.

OK, I can''t for the life of me find the post I''m thinking about. But it was something about a shot your doctor can give you that delays your period. I realized my previous post above sounded like I meant the Depo shot or something. I''m not talking about that. What I''m remembering was a one-time thing someone mentioned that would delay your . by a certain amount of time, i.e. for a wedding or something I guess.

REALLY??!! I''d love to know about this one time shot thing. If it''s really out there. I thought you meant the Depo shot too. But if it wasn''t the Depo shot, it seems very interesting and I''d love to know more about it...

There is a drug for women with PMDD that stops the period by affecting the brain. Basically it tells the brain not to produce the hormones. I''m not suggesting this but I do know that it is out there. You need to have a bone density test first and I doubt any trusted doctor would give it to someone that didn''t need it. Again, don''t remember what its called cause I didn''t want to go on it. It does not prevent pregnancy either.

well ladies, there is no way around it...unless I want to chance Birth control pills and the side effects I may or may not have taking them. I have not taken a Birth control pill in 20 years, my blood pressure is sort of iffy at times. As in, at times it creeps into the "better watch the salt intake zone".

Surprisingly FI is more calm about it then me. He did not want me taking anything that would mess with my system. He says "you can''t mess with mother nature and what will be will be.

I guess now I am more upset about the bloatation, and the emmotional rollarcoaster PMS can make me have at times. Add taking a birth control pill on top of it and not knowing how my body will respond is not something I should be doing at this point I guess.

I could have taken something low does, watched my BP and see how it went, but with only 3 more weeks to go, I won''t chance it.

I am however, checking into that cup thingy, and purchasing some over the counter water pills and laying off the salt and meat. I am going to try eating only salad, fruits, veggies and fish until after the wedding.

If only aunty flo had come when she was suppose to, I would have been done by the day I was married. But............noooooooooooooooooooo. haven''t been early or late in years.

thanks everyone for all your help, insight and ideas :)

Hey there,
I''m happy to hear your FI is so accepting. Mine would be the same way.

Definitely cut back on the salt, but also watch your sugar and dairy intake. If you up your fiber, start a week or two ahead of the wedding. Sometimes when you up your fiber intake, you can experience bloat. Dairy and sugar can make you bloat too. Up your water intake as well.

You can also try Midol for the moodiness/bloating/PMS stuff.

Good Luck!!!

All good suggestions. Definitely make sure you''re drinking lots of water - it actually helps you flush out more. Especially when AF is here, or right before when you''re bloating - drinking lots of water actually decreases the bloating. And ditto on watching the sugar along with the salt.

Just relax - that''ll help the moodiness more than anything. Try not to stress, and enjoy yourself no matter what. It''s great that your FI is so nice - that''s what matters the most.
