Yoga class. I moved to to the same city as my brother/sis in law and sister to finally get over a relationship I kept falling back into. I was having a hard time adjusting and my sister and I went to take yoga class. On the walk into the studio she was encouraging me that with time things would get better. She said ''you need to meet someone new'' as we walked in front of the windows that look into the studio she pointed to FF and said ''what about him?'' The rest took a while to come together of course, but when people asked how we met I just say my sister picked him out for me

That is SO cute. I love it!!

We were set up on a blind date by his SIL, which I expected to turn into nothing since he lived in Hawaii and I lived in Portland at the time (where he was visiting family and on a business trip). Well, it was love at first sight, and a short while later I moved to paradise to be with the love of my life! :-D

I don''t know!

I remember being aware of him in class (he was SO annoying!), and then I remember being best friends. I don''t remember meeting him, though I remember when it said it happened (I was observing a poker game for a class project, and he was playing). I just remember going from hating him to being best friends. I have absolutely no recollection of any middle ground.
My story is SOOO similar! I had a class with him in high school and he would always fold the corners of my paper or make a smiley face on my homework (I was OCD about having everything straight and neat). Then one day I was waiting in the gym after school and he sat beside me and we would talk every afternoon and became best friends. He was the funniest, sweetest guy I''d ever met (I don''t know why he folded my papers ... probably thought he was flirting ... boys are so silly). Been together ever since.

I actually met him through work in a weird sort of way.

I was working in retail when he was hired as a new employee I had to train. We got along really well and I thought he was really cute but I was in a relationship at the time so I saw him as just a friend. A year later, though, my relationship ended and he asked me out -- and he said that he had a confession to make. He had been a customer at the store when he first saw me. He said he had come in and tried making friendly conversation with me but I was always professional and it never went anywhere. He was really frustrated because he just knew that there was something about me that convinced him that I was the one for him but I wasn''t reciprocating. Being a man of strong determination, he didn''t give up. Instead, he did the only thing he could think of: he quit his full-time job and then applied for a position with me (part-time retail!), just so he could try and get to know me better.

Well, it worked.

Umm sweetest story EVER! Wow, he really liked you!

i met my FI at a christmas concert we were both playing in. i was in an exceptionally crabby mood as my family had forced me to go (straight from work, no shower) and this random Marine was there in his blues and sat next to me against my wishes (i tried to get him to sit at the head of the section). darn boy had me laughing in 5 minutes and proceeded to find where i worked the next day and visited until i agreed to go to a friend''s house to watch a movie on that friday.

on the 14th time he got to see me after that friday we were engaged. he still doesn''t listen to me very well though

Myspace. He had a girlfriend at the time.

LOL :) Mine had a wife when I met him. We met online, totally unrelated to relationships. We met on a hockey message board and just continued a friendship for 1.5 years. Then he and his wife split up, we remained friends but one day he confessed he''d had feelings for me for a while.

I met my missing piece in college.

I moved universities to start my PhD in social science. Since I didn''t know anyone, one of my friends from work asked her friend who was studying there (he was a PhD student in aerospace engineering, so someone I would never have met) to take me to coffee with all his aerospace engineer mates. He was lovely, but the gorgeous long-haired man he introduced me to was far more interesting! D had a girlfriend at the time, but I KNEW he was mine. KNEW KNEW KNEW

I figured I could be patient. So I waited (and waited and waited). Two years later he was newly single and asked me out. Since then we''ve been together for 18 months, living together for 8 months, and bought a house together last month

I bought his car :).

I was in the market for a car to track, and my then boyfriend found the car on Kijiji. I set up a time to look at it, and it was perfect. The seller was distraught and didn''t want to sell. He then texted me later saying he would.

On the day of the sale, he dropped off the car and we ended up talking. And talking and talking. We talked from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. He crashed at my house.

I told my BF at the time we had chatted and he dumped me (but asked me back 3 days later - too late :))

I told "seller" that BJ had dumped me and he asked me out on a date. We have barely been apart since.

He "officially" moved in 3 months later and proposed a month after that. I couldn''t be happier.

And we still have and love the car.

So many cute stories! Here''s mine - SO and I met on the first day of grad school. He was tanned and gorgeous (found out later he had just come back from months of hanging out on a beach...lucky guy!) but was TOTALLY overly laid back. No pen, no notebook and he was wearing jeans with huge rips in the knees (all the other guys were wearing khakis and collared shirts!). He mentioned that he hadn''t paid his tuition yet as he wasn''t sure he''d stick it out. My first impression was that he thought he was too cool for school -- I wasn''t impressed. My intention was to just focus on school and not pay much attention to men, but I couldn''t help myself with him. We would randomly meet on the way to and from school and I warmed up to him quickly (he''s basically the sweetest guy ever). We became friends and started studying together a lot. I really truly thought we were just friends (although I was totally crushing on him) until he finally finally kissed me one night at a party. I don''t think either one of us has ever looked back!

One of my very good friends met her husband the exact same way!

I worked at the local convenience store and he came in all the time. I never knew his name. One day there was a note on my car that said that he wanted to get to know me and signed his name. I had no idea who he was and I don''t think that I ever called because honestly I was a little creeped out.

He came one day while I was outside and pulled up playing a song that I really liked. He said that he would put it on a CD for me. He came a couple days later and gave it to me. It had different types of songs on it and it didn''t occur to me then, but we listened to it a few months ago and they were all love songs. *swoon*

I worked full time, but my days off were not on the weekends. One day I got a HUGE flower arrangement and the note said Hope this makes your "Monday" a little better. I think it was a Thursday. I called the shop that he ordred them from and they told me the name, but I still didn''t know it was the guy that came in every morning.

Then he told me that he was having a BBQ and wanted me to come. I did not go. I didn''t know this guy, I wasn''t going to just go over to his house.

A week or so later he asked me why I didn''t come over and I told him the truth and he gave me his number (again although I didn''t know it) and told me to call him when I got off. I did and we talked on the phone. He told me to call him the next day when I got off. I did and he asked me if I would come over to his house and just hang out. It was the middle of the day so I felt safe enough to go.

He was wonderful and charming and we have been together ever since. I was finally able to put it all together that night. The note, the CD, the flowers. It was funny because I asked him if I could have something to drink and he said sure I have about 20 teas in there. He did have alot of them. He said that he bought them when he didn''t want or need them so that he could come in and see me. To this day I remember that it was August 8th. I knew on the 22nd that he was the man that I was going to marry. I told him that too. I know that he must have thought that I was crazy since he no intentions of marrying anyone, but here we are today married.

I love telling that story

I met my husband online 6 years ago.

We were in the same major in college. With only about 60 people in the major we all became very very close friends during junior and senior year. I was in an LDR all of junior year and we broke up in January of senior year. About that time DH and I started flirting a bit, but I thought it was all very silly since we were just friends and had known each other for years. Somehow we started dating, and after a month or two I think I knew I was going to marry him. It's so weird thinking about now and remembering how he was just some guy in my class, then some guy in my class that I hung out with, and now my DH!

ETA: I should add how we actually went from classmates to friends. I was becoming friends with his best buddy and apartment-mate. This best friend was big into studying
14.gif
, so I'd want to hang out and he'd be busy. So he started saying "Come over and hang out with B, I have work to do". Lol. DH was pretty shy, so I didn't think much of him at the time, but a few of us would go over and hang out with him. It wasn't until the next year, senior year, that we started hanging out all the time, but mostly in a party or study mode - we weren't best friends or anything until the end of senior year when we started dating. Funn how things work out. Oh, and that best friend was his best man

This is my first post...weird.
I met my FI (need to get used to the short hand writing) at university. We were both counselors for two weeks for a group of kids doing a live in camp. He was technically my boss since he was the head counselor.
We''ve been inseperable ever since.

I went home for a wedding, and brought a friend as my date. My "date" introduced me to one of his friends from high school who just happened to live 2 hours from where I do currently. At first I didn''t think he was interested, and he wasn''t sure if I was actually dating my date. The wedding was a bust (over by 10 pm) so the three of us went to a bar afterward. We all stayed talking until 2, and in the ride home he asked for my number. We carpooled back to Oklahoma the next day and had dinner where I live. The rest is history.

ha. I always like to tell people that we met in a bar. It is true, we did. Just not quite as scandalous as it sounds...we were both there in a group with some mutual friends. I did have a boyfriend at the time though, but that was one rocky on and off relationship that was coming to a close regardless. But that first time we met, we didn''t really talk much, and it wasn''t for another few months that the same group of people all ended up out at that same bar again. Neither one of us remembered each others name from the time before! But we made sure to talk a lot more the 2nd time, and since then we''ve been pretty much inseparable!

Second time posting

We met in a bar [weekday 4pm] one of my friends was part of a small fashion show there, she was our made of honor.

We also met at a bar, but through a friend. It was New Years Eve and my friend and I were trying to decide where to go. We had originally had other plans but at the last minute decided to meet up with her friend (now my boyfriend) instead. It''s so funny because the taxi ride over to the bar, she kept telling me how I should go out more and have fun, date around, etc. because I had broken up with my ex-boyfriend a year ago prior and was still hesitant to go out on dates. She wasn''t trying to hook me up with him, but it''s just funny how things turned out when you look back at the whole night.

So we get to the bar and we''re waiting outside for them to come and meet us and all of a sudden this guy hugs my friend and then turns around and hugs me! I didn''t even see his face and he was already hugging me! LOL. The whole night he keeps trying to hit on me and is being very cheesy and a bit un-smooth in a very endearing way. Dear BF is not a smooth operator in any way, being a pretty stereotypical engineer. It was really quite cute to see him try so hard to be a casanova. Lucky for him, he was cute and I like nerdy, un-smooth guys. LOL. Meanwhile, my friend seeing the chemistry between us keeps trying to throw me at him all the while I''m trying to resist the two of them!

At the end of the night, we decided to meet up for brunch the next day and I thought he had meant everyone. It turns out he meant just the two of us. I was a bit hesitant, but in the end I just decided to go with it. If it didn''t work out, then at least I met a new friend and had some fun. We met up in a public square, tried to eat lunch which was tough to do when you''re hung-over and sleep deprived, gave up on eating lunch and walked around downtown and talked for hours.

I like to tell people that we met in a bar, but he always freaks out and adds "through a friend!" hurriedly at the end!
