how do you clean tanzanite?

I have a reallly pretty tanzanite and diamond pendant. I have heard horror stories of tanzanite being ruined during cleaning. I know not to use an ultarsonic on it. Is commercial jewlery cleaner safe? I want to get the diamond really clean too. Its a 1ct emerals shaped tanzanite with a 1/4 ct diamond.

Hello asscherisme. I have several pieces of Tanzanite jewelry(including the one in my avatar) and I soak them in warm water with a little dishwashing detergent and rinse in clear water. Don''t use a brush on the Tanzanite.Wipe with a jewelry cloth and use that one only with your Tanzie.It is easy to scratch.I hve had some of minne for years and have not had a problem. Would love to see a pic of your Tanzanite. I have been thinking of starting a thread for Tanzanite pictures but have not gotten around to it.
