I rescued Shale the cat in November and I already love him to pieces lol.

I want to keep an eye out for a gem that would match his eye color which I find gorgeous and is the thing people comment on most often but I’m bad at describing colors.

I need search terms to put in google! Lol.

Also any thoughts in what sound of gem I should look at for this color would be great. I’m thinking tourmaline and amber might be my best bet right now.. maybe a some andradite garnets?
 
Gorgeous kitty. A light colored Andalusite is a stone might capture the honey, green, gold and red tones in his eyes. They are a bit on the softer side and getting harder and harder to find but very beautiful. Or perhaps a honey chrysoberyl which would be much more durable.

Amber or if you want to get fancy, cat's eye chrysoberyl (the honey coloured ones).
 
The honey colored ones have been tough to find and I don’t really know how to assess them :/. Philly gem show soon so I’m going to look there first!

Ooo. Whiskey diamonds! Didn’t know that was a term!
 
I think I want something with good gemmy translucency like Shales eyes. Otherwise I’ll just think cataracts lol.
 
My first thought was amber, but I see you already suggested that yourself. So I’m not much help.

But I just wanted to say, wow! What a beautiful cat and what beautiful eyes he has.

I think you're already onto the right track with gems. I also want to say 1) What an adorable cat! and 2) I would describe his fur as the color of gingerbread cookies and toast. There's definitely a reddish hue if you look at his fur and not just his eyes.
 
Maybe it's time for some brownish diamonds...;-)

Just saw the suggestion for whiskey diamonds, so my vote is for that!

I do love cat eyes but I’m having a hard evaluating the color online. Most seem too green or too yellow.
