Hi,

I''m just really curious.

It seems to me that everyone doesn''t do it the same way as me.

I use 2 tbspns of Milo, one tsp sugar, and milk and zap it in the microwave... YUM

My Fi uses 2-3 tbspns Milo, no sugar, half milk/half boiling water (in the mug) and drinks it like that!!!

We had a "discussion" about this and we''re both convinced the other is wrong hehehe

I grew up on Milo and Ovaltine and I always use full milk and sugar!! That''s what they do on the ads! Mind you, I did spend my childhood in Indonesia, and lets just say, we like our sugar...

So... how do you take your Milo? What''s the correct way to drink Milo? Anyone?

Thanks

Never heard of Milo. Is it like a hot chocolate?

REALLY?

I thought it was like an international brand haha

Its a chocolate and malt drink created by Nestle... Comes in powder form.

I do it like your fiance, except sometimes I''ll add a bit of sweetener to it.

Sometimes I also sprinkle it on vanilla ice cream. Yummeh!

I'll have to look for it in the grocery store to see if they carry it. I do remember seeing Ovaltine on the shelves but I've never tried that either. It sounds super-sweet. Is it?

ETA: Just found this on Wikipedia. Sounds like it's not widely available:

Availability of Milo in North America is rather limited and is an imported product only. It can be found in Latino & Asian markets with a large East Asian American population in areas such as California, New York City, Philadelphia and New Jersey. It can also be found in areas with a notable Latino & West Indian population. Publix supermarkets in South Florida stock the Colombian-made Milo drink mix as well as cans of Milo produced in Malaysia. Recently, it has also been available in larger Wal-Mart and Shopper Food Warehouse stores in the Hispanic foods aisle.

Nestle has now introduced a Canadian version of Milo. It is made in Canada. It dissolves rapidly like Nesquik, probably due to market expectations, but still retains the Malt flavour. It is also sweeter than other varieties. This Canadian variety has been available since early 2006 and is widely available in the above mentioned stores as well as Superstore, Extra Foods and London Drugs. Some East Asian supermarkets (such as T&T Supermarket in Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary) will carry the version imported from China or Hong Kong.

CDNinNYC, nope, it is not super sweet at all. It has a subtle chocolate flavour.

Thanks for the info too, I had no idea Milo is not readily available in the US!

When I was a kid I had Milo with hot water and a little bit of milk. I also liked to sprinkle it on my breakfast cereal to make the milk chocolate flavoured as I wasn't alowed any sugary cereals. I liked to eat spoon fulls of milo by it's self also.

ETA: I also disolved a tablespoon in hotwater and then added it to a glass full of cold milk. Great on hot summer days.

never tried Milo, but I like milk with Ovaltine.

Sometimes I use condense milk to make my ovaltine. I also like to boil 2% milk with Ovaltine... and.. sprinkle lots of ovaltine powder on my waffle.. and.. just eat spoonful of dry powder ovaltine.

We drink Ovaltine a lot when we were kids, not so much now.

Has anyone tried putting condensed milk on bread and sprinkling Milo on top of it? Heavenly...

Anyone for Horlicks?

Yum Milo

I have mine in between yours and your FI''s cindygenit

i have 2-3 teaspoons of milo, one sugar, and half/half hot water and milk. Maybe a lil more hot water than half.

I live in Canada at the mo but the milo just isnt the same...my parents sent me a care package with some in it though so I have some at the moment

3 tbsp of milo and hot milk :-)

Gosh, I haven''t had milo since I was in NZ as a kid. Any kiwis on here? I miss milo, but what I really miss is lime Raro. Kool-aid is so disgusting in comparison.

I''ve found it in Walmart every now and then and I hoard it!

I love mine with skim milk and sugar, heated up and then poured over ice (mmmm...iced Milo). Preferably, though, I like mine fresh from a hawker stall in Singapore!

Anyone for Horlicks?
Haven''t done the first but might have to try that. And I looooove Horlicks! They''re also lovely mixed together, Horlicks and Milo.

mmm milo

I make it like your FI except with sweetened Canadian version of the powder (thank you Superstore).

I''d love to try the unsweetened version - I''m not that much of a sweets person.

I think I''ll have some right now

( I like chocolate ovaltine too, and was amazed to read the high levels of vitamin A it contains - good for the skin)

This is the first I''ve heard of it, too!

I'll have mine tall and reddish brown, thank you. Preferably with a high bushel per acre yield.

Put me in the group that hasn't heard of the drink. Around here, this is milo

Yeah, like others, I''ve never heard of it before (I live in the US also). If it''s similar to Nesquick, Ovaltine, I make it with skim milk. If it''s like powdered hot chocolate mix, I just add boiling water...and a few marshmallows.

Yes, ME!

I havn''t met any other Kiwis on PS yet.

No Milo in Chicago area.

Never heard of it, either!

I don''t think Milo is advertised or widely distributed in the U.S. You can find them at Asian markets usually b/c they are popular in Asia. I had never been a fan of Milo growing up. I am a Horlick girl.

With Horlicks, I do milk and sugar. When I don''t have milk, I had used evaporated milk, water and sugar. I had even used powder creamer, water and sugar. I like regular milk and sugar best.

haha interesting to see that a lot of people on this forum have never heard or tried Milo!

I see that I am not alone, my Fi thinks its weird that i put SUGAR in Milo/Ovaltine/Horlicks( yes i love Horlicks too).

I''m on the other side - no sugar or milk; just heaping tablespoons of milo dissolved in hot water, topped with cold water and finished with a mound of milo on top a.k.a. a "milo dinosaur" as they call it in asia!

I like my milo with half water/ half milk- no sugar. With horlicks, just hot water please :D

Milo is awesome if you haven''t heard of it get some (see pic below)

I have mine with like 2tbspoons down bottom mixed with a little milk, add som more mink and then dunk another couple of tbspoons on top and mix slightly

- I don''t drink it often I also love it sprinkled on vanilla icecream
