This is a photoshop of what I had planned for the silky mahenge I just bought. I was worried the mount may overwhelm the stone. What do you think?

I think it is impossible to overwhelm anything with that kind of color! It looks lovely to me.

I really wanna love it, but I'm not sure I like the antiquing of the silver. I feel like it distracts a bit.

Looks great to me, no problem with the stone standing out well.

I adore it. I have that setting in my favourites too: I love it with that colour combo and the offset oval. I would say GO GO GO :appl:

Hmm, maybe its just me but I feel a stone in that color may need a more delicate setting? I love the setting but not crazy about it with your mahenge....but really, do YOU love it? It certainly is different and gorgeous!

Yes that setting way overpowers that stone......
you need a delicate setting like KT said.
I like the setting but for some other type stone..........
I see that setting more for a cabachon

UPG, please note: I know very little about settings so my opinion could be real wacky or way off and best left for some of the ladies that know settings much more than I do ;))

organic, elegant, and yet simple......and your stone is the star of the show. i think its a great combo.

I like it. How about a black patina on the silver except the little spheres, leave them white, but brushed. and maybe there could be a few more of them (the spheres) in different sizes & smaller like the little clusters of frog eggs in a pond I saw in olde buttonwoods back in '71.

I agree that something more simple may let your stone shine more. I think you're on the right track by not putting it in a halo of sparkling diamonds that would contrast too much with the beautiful sleepiness.

I would love to see it in something like this that looks very straight forward from the top (pic below), but has a very interesting open bezel that allows you to see the pavilion. I would add a brushed/satin finish to help your stone glow. I know a brushed finish is easily marred, but if you wear the ring on occasion without any neighboring rings, the top would hold up okay.

Preg, I tink that mounting is beautiful, but it looks too formal and refined for what I'm looking for.

I want something more casual and "funky."

Here's another artisan I like. What do you think of this mount?

I would do yellow gold, preferably high karat, even if it's just the bezel.
