This seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I would love to know your thoughts. This diamond isn't online, and looks eye clean to me. I can post photos later. It was originally $10,495 but without the warranty on the diamond it was reduced to $8495. Since I will be insuring the ring anyway, and already have a warranty on the setting, I think it's fine. I've checked James Allen and Blue Nile and similar diamonds are priced in the same range. Are there any red flags?

I wouldn't do "very good" for symmetry, personally. That and cut need to be excellent. Plus, I'd go down to G-H color and try to get at least SI1 for clarity.

Is it hazy at all? Check in direct sunlight.

It's not hazy at all, it's one of the nicest diamonds I've seen.

The cut is excellent, is there a huge difference between VG and Excellent symmetry?

Some people want Excellent for symmetry and polish but I'm personally fine with VG for either of those. If you have seen the diamond in person and you love it, then I wouldn't worry about it.

+1 Thanks for saying it Stargurl!!! "Excellent" symmetry has been made into such a big deal! I've seen stones that have VG that have scored 1.5 and better on the HCA! And that even look better than "excellent" stones or the same. Plus, a VG stone will sometimes cost you less. Personally, I would pay less for a VG symmetry stone if it performed well and looked beautiful. That's not to say that you should just buy junk, VG is still "Very Good", and can look just as great. You just have to look a bit harder for those stones. If your stone scored a 2, and the idealscope looks great and you saw it in person and loved it, then go for it.

I just saw this 04diamond. I think I am a little less picky on some things than most PSers and I might just be biased because my e-ring stone has VG symmetry and I think its stunning, if I do say so myself :wink2: Really just a personal preference I guess.

To the OP, I hope you come back and let us know if you decided to go with this stone!
