How happy are you with your collection right now?

I am quite satisfied, and have pretty much stopped buying jewelry as I just don't wear it very often. We simply don't go out as much as we used to, and I primarily wear jewelry when out. At home I rarely wear more than a plain wedding band.

I have a frankly obscene amount of jewellery since I’ve been collecting since age 8. The plan was/is to rehome / pass on older pieces when a better new pretty arrives but………….
Some pieces I will always love to the moon and back and even after decades in some cases, still cause a little heart flutter.
Being of course my Opal bracelet, my Almond Blossom Opal Ring, my sapphire and diamond ring and my engagement ring reset.

I still think about that opal ring as an absolute work of art. I remember when it was on LT; I wouldn’t be able to fit it, I would’ve just put it in my mini museum. It wasn’t destined to be mine- I’m so glad it is yours and I’m so glad to see it again!

Omg omg omg can you please post the yellow diamond???? Plzzzzzzz

Sorry for going off topic @Lisa Loves Shiny

Pearl bangle (I cannot resist these and my family made me swear that I’ll give the next one to Lil Sis because she doesn’t have one):

I would love to know more about that pearl ring. It’s incredible.

HI:

I don't know if I have a collection (which sounds curated to me), but rather a bunch of assorted jewellery. But I do like what I have and do not actively seek new stuff...more so it falls into my lap. The only thing I think about these days is a pair of diamond stud earrings. Goodness knows why I sold or gave away my other pairs.

cheers--Sharon

Mine is more of a rock collection than a jewelry collection. Mostly earth and some lab diamonds; gemstones are mostly lab and/or treated. I have all the traditional diamond shapes, and lot of different cuts, and a few colors. (Small, modest stones!)

Once my color collection is done, I will move to mostly lab diamonds for some settings that I have always admired but will not wear often enough to invest in $$$$ stones. I do have some setting/resetting projects as well.

I've been collecting for 16 years now and I'm pretty darn happy with what I have up to this point. There are the antique/estate unique pieces that got away, and the gems whose cost has risen so high to prohibit me from buying them, but I am at peace with those financial decisions I made then. I try to only make room for the pieces I will wear.

I primarily purchase loose gems to set into custom pieces later. As a result, getting a project done takes enough time and money that I am often planning in advance. So although I am pleased with the gems I have snagged, I do look at the group of them and wish I could get all of them set more quickly. That's my own fault since I didn't stop at just one opal...or jade...or sapphire...or garnet...or diamond. :oops2:

I'm very happy with what I have. It's a bit of a capsule collection...
- e-ring and wedding band, both rose gold
- sapphire and diamond cluster rose gold RHR (which I sometimes wear in place of my e-ring)
- everyday rose gold diamond pendant and chain
- rose gold diamond studs that I wear alone
- rose gold diamond hoops, diamond flower studs and rose gold ball studs that I wear as a set of 3 (three piercings per lobe)
- white gold diamond tennis bracelet
- rose gold bangle
- rose gold bracelet

As a scrub nurse, I can't wear any jewellery other than earrings and necklace three days a week, so I feel that my rings get enough wear for the rest of the week.

That said, I do like to have a thing or two currently on my wish list. I'm saving for a diamond solitaire for my right hand, and a long rose gold paperclip chain.

I’ve found my rose gold family! :D

My tastes are still evolving, but I think I've narrowed them down quite a bit in the last year. I know I will always have a wish list, even if some items are pie in the sky. But I too don't want anything languishing in a drawer, so I'm trying to be very deliberate about my next purchases.

Well said and I need to take it as advice. “Deliberate” is something I am striving for.

RIGHT?! I was thinking the same thing! Rose Gold paperclip chain necklace is something I wear more than anything else.

I'm happy with my COllection  but not with the Election.

And since that rhymes, it's extra true.

Never been unhappy with it even when we had nothing.

I remember being stunned and appalled when our local B&M retailer casually referred to me as a "collector." It sounded like I was filling blank spaces in a stamp album or something. But I think he meant "someone who's liable to buy something for no particular reason" and that's not too far off the mark.

I've struggled to find the things I'm actually looking for -- maybe I'm just too cheap and I now know enough to aim too high. But I am known to get distracted by all the things I'm not looking for.

I am so happy with what I've acquired since I've joined Pricescope! I didn't have any diamond pieces then, or other nice jewelry, really, except my engagement ring.

I still get a little distracted from my "wish list," but I do try to focus more now on larger projects. I want to say, though, that everything cannot be planned. Sometimes you really do have to go with your gut. And I think this forum gives one the information and confidence to do that.

I bought a 1.2 ct O color August Vintage cushion a few Christmases ago and put it in a pendant. I spent more than I intended, but I could sense the shift to lab grown and saw that the natural ones weren't being restocked.

I am SO GLAD now that I bought that stone! It is probably my most worn pendant and it has brought me such joy. And that is really what it is all about!

No too much of it is unset, and instead of doing the hard thing and making a decision about how to set it (because that sounds like work) I just keep buying more :wall:.

Somehow this has become a pretext for me to bid in auctions for more and more melee stones -- because surely that gets me closer to setting something. While all the lose little rocks sit in a bank vault where I never see them.

Hallo! I wore it today and then suddenly remembered I was going to tell you about it!

I might it from Japan from a Pearl vendor in the jewellery district. It was relatively inexpensive! 18k yellow gold with a south sea pearl and real diamonds. The vendor barely speaks any English but he’s lovely and just lets you rummage around his shop. He even has the Japanese Pearl Science Laboratory certs for some stuff.

This post explains my adventure in more detail! I had so much fun and am going to come back this year!

Hallo! ...

IMG_8003.jpeg

Beautiful!

But that poor oyster. ::)
That must have felt like bowling ball! :lol-2:

I guess it could have been worse for the oyster.
At least it wasn't impaled with a knife, while thinking with its little oyster mind, "Oh Shucks!" ...

... Then quickly slither down, probably still alive, someone's throat, only to greet human stomach acids. :eek2:
