How long did you use dreft?

Starting a load of DD clothes this morning I was wondering how long I should continue to use Dreft. Its not a big deal to use it, but I really hate how it makes her clothes smell and we are fast approaching 1 year old.

We will be back to using it in the fall when baby #2 arrives so maybe it really doesnt matter.
 
We never used it and my kids are just fine.

We always just use the no scent no dye varieties of regular detergents. Cheaper and it just smells clean rather than like anything.
 
we use Tide Free (hypoallergenic, free of perfumes, dyes etc) for all our clothes including baby, we never used Dreft. someone gave us one but we never used it.
 
We use Maggie's Soap Nuts, they leave the clothes smelling really fresh and super soft!!! They are hypoallergenic too!

I never used Dreft either. I sometimes used the dye free and other times I didn''t depending on what was on sale..
 
We used Kirkland brand all free and clear. No problems. Dreft is generally just good marketing.
 
We never used Dreft. We usually just buy whatever is on sale and that we have a coupon for. DS doesn''t have sensitive skin though.

How about trying another brand? Dreft is only one of the baby detergents. I''ve never used it, personally. I use Purex - Baby (Ultra Concentrate). It has a lovely scent.
 
I used dreft up for my kids until about three years ago (kids were just starting elementary) and now wash their clothes in All Free and Clear. All my hand washables are washed in dreft. lol I keep a bottle in my bathroom for when I go on a handwashing bing. I HATE handwashing, so when I get up the enery, I wash about 10 garments. (A lot of my shirts/sweaters cannot be put in the washer so they pile up for about a month!)

Dreft is VERY expensive. I wouldn't buy it except a bottle will last me a year. Maybe I'll try another kind when I run out. I HATE powdered detergent, so it'll have to be another liquid kind.
 
I use Charlie''s Soap. Sometimes I purchase at Whole Foods, but usually I buy it direct from their website.
 
My ds has super sensitive skin and terrible eczema. We''ve used Tide Free and Clear, and then our grocery store brand free and clear, and he''s been fine with both of those. I still use regular Tide for my and dh''s laundry, and every once and a while I throw some of his stuff in with ours, and it doesn''t seem to bother him, so I''ll probably switch over after he''s 1 year.
 
With JT we used Dreft until he was around 9 months old. He had extremely sensitive skin and couldn''t even cuddle up to someone who had used Tide without breaking out. As he approached a year old, we switched to Baby All. When he was around 18 months or so and starting to get REALLY dirty, we switched to regular free and clear brands.

I tried switching to regular detergent when DD was a few months old, but her skin is fairly sensitive so I stuck with what worked. Perhaps I will try one of the brands yall have suggested.
 
I use Fairy (is it just a UK brand?)

I do all our clothes in it - it''s the same price as any of the brand-name ones here and smells lovely.
 
We used it for about 12 months.
 
We use All Free and Clear too. Never had any issues and both my kids and myself have very sensitive skin.
 
Before 6 months we had to wash anything that would come in close contact with her body with dreft otherwise she would get tiny bumps everywhere.

That has stopped but I still use it because I like the smell

Plus I''m in denial that she''s not a newborn anymore and don''t want to use "grown up" detergent.
 
Never used it for any of my kids. Never had problems until my 3rd child. Then I switched to free and clear detergents. Didn''t matter brand. Started with tide then switched to kirkland brand when I joined Costco. Solved allergy problems.
 
I never used Dreft but use All free and clear because ds has sensitive skin.
 
I never used Dreft. We use Tide Free or All Free and Clear for all our machine-wash laundry. I don''t even use dryer sheets because I can''t stand scents being added to my clothes.
 
I used Dreft till my son was about 4 months old, then switched to All Free and Clear for everyones laundry. My son had no problems with the switch.
 
Ditto to Fiery''s post. I love the way it smells, reminds me of my son so I keep using it.

But I have used Tide Free and Clear and it was fine and my son does have sensitive skin. I think once you can figure out that your little one doesn''t have (too) sensitive skin, then you don''t have to worry as much.

Am I the only one whose laundry does not smell good after using dreft? It smells fine when I add it to the washer, but when I open the dryer the clothes smell like dog. We dont even have a dog

All my other wash smells fine.
 
ponder, I also didn''t like the smell of dreft. I felt it smelled like my clothes needed to be cleaned still.
 
We use All Free & Clear in our house with Woolite for hand washing and will stick with those.
 
I used either All Free & Clear or whatever other brands, Arm & Hammer, Tide Free etc. I did until London was a year I think, and then switched to regular, and then again until Trapper was a year, and switched to whatever is on sale, or whatever mom finds in her cupboard to bring in. (she likes to try different scents, so if she''s not done w/what she has at home, we get the leftovers haha)

ditto - we still use it (DS is 16 mos old).

it''s also because the bottles last so long haha, i think we are only on our 3rd dreft bottle.
