In the book "What to Expect In the First year" they say there is no reason you cant use the same soap as you do in your own laundry loads. They say to do a test - so put one shirt that the baby wears close to his/her skin in your load with normal soap. Put it on the baby - if they dont get a rash there is no need to use a mild soap. Hope that helps

I only used it for my first child... #2 and #3 show no adverse affects for lack of it lol
