Hi, girls...I noticed the list of all the LIW and I lurked here for about 3 months before I joined up. I wanted to know how long...

1. have you been here on the forum?
2. have you been dating your SO?
3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)

I''ve been on the forum for just a few days, I''ve been dating Adam for over three years, and our status is really up in the air. We very, very casually went to look at a jewelry store where I didn''t like anything. I''ve also sent my preferences to him online and showed him them on the computer. We''ve discussed it at least 20 times. I can''t wait to hear from all of you!

This sounds fun, notmyrealname!

Count me in ...

1. How long have you been here on the forum?
I think I was lurking for about a month and I have been a member for a little less than a month, I think.

2. How long have you been dating your SO?
I''ve been dating my SO for 13 years. No, that is not a typo. Tell me that this isn''t some type of record.
38.gif

We have been dating long-distance (Vancouver, BC to Seattle, WA) and I have been in university and then grad school and working on my career ... Now seems to be the perfect time when everything is just failing into place for us to be together ... in the same country

3. What is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
Heck if I know!!!
20.gif
Just teasing ... we have been ring/diamond shopping together and have selected a setting and a diamond ... The setting was just finished last week!! I can''t wait to see it in person next week Saturday! Unfortunately, I have been told that I am not allowed to see it with the diamond set in in yet. I can only see the naked setting and my lonely diamond separately
7.gif

I have no idea when he is going to propose, however, I am so excited thinking about it!

By the way, the "casual" looking is how it all started for us a couple of years ago as well. You''d be surprised how that casual looking really plants the seed and develops into something else.

1. How long have you been here on the forum?
- Not very long at all...Maybe a few weeks if that. hehe I am a total newbie to the site. :)

2. How long have you been dating your SO?
- I have been with my darling Eric since Feb. 17, 2005 - Almost 3 years :) I feel so blessed!!

3. What is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
- Well...Here is the thing... I used to want the three stone. So he went to make payments on one... Then I saw one I liked better in another store... So he went to go make payments there... And now I have changed my mind yet again. hehe Fickle much?? We found a lovely 1920''s style ring that was simply enchanting. I think purly for the reason of feeling bad about the constant changes, this shall be THE RING. :) So now we get to that... Who knows when the proposal will be but I am VERY lucky to have a man who puts up with my contant back and forth on rings. hehe No matter when I am EXCITED. hehe

P.S. This was a GREAT post!!

Fun fun...

1. I''ve only been on the forum for the past three days lurking and reading constantly because a) I find it all so interesting and b) because I just started Winter break and I have time to spend all day looking at lovely jewels and reading how supportive everyone is of each other.

2. We''ve been dating for under two years- April 7th according to the first day we met or May 5th according to the day we made it official. However in the past two years we''ve gone through a lot: him having open heart surgery, his father meeting a woman through a mail order bride website and marrying her less than a year after his mother passed away, a few of his close family members dying-not including his mom although her ashes weren''t buried until recently-which was also difficult to go through, and my mom finding out her breast cancer had not only come out of remission but that it had moved into her liver and was given 6 months-2 years to live, it went into remission, and I just found out on Friday that it''s all come out of remission again. But it has been a year and a half since she was first given that time frame. I think that we''ve been through a lot in the short time we''ve been together, and it feels like we''ve been together a lot longer than we have. I should also probably mention that he broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years because he was interested in me, and also because he knew they just weren''t right for each other.
32.gif

3. We originally discussed marriage about a month into the relationship. The first time I felt it was the day after we made it official. For both of us it was almost immediate that we knew we were supposed to be together, it just took us a little while to admit it to each other. We first went ring shopping February 2006, and I was really excited and anxious for the next couple of months, but then I kind of gave up. He moved into my condo with me at my mom''s request (this should be a good indication of how much she likes him-she''s a staunch Catholic and very against living together in most cases) because we wanted to, and because of his medical bills-to save money. He is a graduate student beginning the second semester of his PhD, and earns basically enough money to support us in a decent fashion, while I am in my third year of my BA although I have an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. He has managed to save about $400 that has gone into the "Bling Fund" which is over half of what my desired e-ring costs (platinum and blue topaz) but he''s recently put on the brakes because he doesn''t feel like he makes enough money to think about getting married now or anytime soon. He has a sheet of paper that has clearly written directions and even a diagram to just hand to the jeweler. The thing is, I know it''ll be a while before he makes any real money, and I''m willing to support him through the second half of his PhD because I''ll be able to get a job by then, but then he brings up how he wants to go on a great honeymoon and he insists on paying for it. Ugh. Who said I needed or wanted the perfect honeymoon?! And who says we can''t have a two year engagement?!
8.gif

Wow, I didn''t meant to write so much. I guess my frustrations just came out.

1. How long have you been here on the forum? I thought only a couple of months, but according to my account info, since September.

2. How long have you been dating your SO? Jon & I have been dating since September 8, 2000... yes, 7 years and 3 months

3. and what is your status? Well, as of a week ago today, he''s put a down payment on a ring because we''re having several modifications done to a wedding set as well as having a diamond brought in... He''s promised to propose before I graduate college May 18th. We haven''t heard anything from the jeweler yet. He''s suppose to call when the diamond is in and the setting is ready before he sets the diamond to ensure we''re happy with it. This has been the LONGEST week EVER!

1. have you been here on the forum?
I was also a lurker for awhile and I joined about 2 months ago when I found the ring..i needed some support!!!
emwink.gif

2. have you been dating your SO?
We have been together 5 and half years......have been talkin about marriage for awhile now...

3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
He has "the ring", the one we picked out together......found it over 6 weeks and counting......and its killin me...

Ooooh How Fun!

1. How long have you been here on the forum? A few months or so? I joined after lurking for a few weeks... I caught the LIW bug 4 or 5 months ago and found this site while looking up different styles of pave rings.

2. How long have you been dating your SO? Not that long actually, about 2.5 years. We''ve been living together for 1.5 years and couldn''t be happier.

3. and what is your status? Well, I''m really not sure what our status is because FF has taken control of all the planning after I told him what kind of ring that I like. I know he has started a saving account for the ring. I know he hasn''t gone shopping seriously or purchased a ring (I would be VERY surprised). We have discussed our plans for the future and although I would love, love, LOVE to be engaged right now, it just isn''t practical as he is in law school and still (minorly) financially dependent on his family. (we both want him to be on his own feet before getting married). So... I wait. I''m thinking we will get engaged around the time of his graduation (in about 1 year and 4 months... can you tell I''m counting down?)
2.gif

1. How long have you been here on the forum?
About nine months on PS, about six months posting in the LIW forum (I posted some info for Deco for her Irish honeymoon and then sloped off into lurkdom again for another two months before joining in properly!).

2. How long have you been dating your SO?
Four years, coming up on five.

3. What is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
We have discussed everything, we''ve gone ring ''browsing'', and he''s saving. We''re waiting for all our ducks to be in a row (finances, personal deadlines with school/work etc) before we take the next step.

1. how long have you been here on the forum?
like everyone, i think, i lurked for a few months before joining officially a month ago. then i joined the LIW list a couple of weeks later.
1.gif

2. how long have you been dating your SO?
we''re coming up on our 1 year anniversary in feb, which apparently is not that long according to average LIW numbers here. but we''ve been living together since march, everything''s perfect. i think we''re in a different place than most of you ladies are too (no grad school, we''ve been on our own for years already at 23 and 24). to each their owwn timeline!

3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
marriage discussions a plenty!!! this weekend was the first time it was made known to our families too. he let them in on my obsession with all things sparkly.
30.gif
we (okay, mostly i...hehehe) are hoping to be engaged by next year.

good post nmrn!! nice hat sparky!!

1. how long have you been here on the forum?
Like the common trend between almost all of the LIW ladies, I lurked for a few months and finally broke down and joined in August at the peak of my impatience with waiting.
2. how long have you been dating your SO?
We’ve been dating for longer than I can remember. We were very close friends for years before we took the plunge into a relationship and it happened so unexpectedly and so slowly, neither of us can remember exactly when. At best guess, I have figured about 5 years or nearing on 5 years.
3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
We have discussed marriage and our futures together. However, I have let him know very loud and clear that I am done waiting around for him by the start of summer. We own our home together and have been together long enough for him to be able to make this decision easily. I have never been one to postpone any aspect of my life for another person so I won’t start now. I don’t think my response could have been any less romantic but I guess that’s what happens when an LIW gets fed up
emwink.gif

OK so this is my very first post! I''ve been lurking for about 6 weeks now. I love checking out all the bling and reading everyone''s interesting post. Also, this forum helps me not feel so crazy knowing that there are other ladies out there who feel the same way as I do!

I have been dating my S.O since jan 22nd 2001. I was 17 and he was 19 :) But, we did break up for 16 months.(I guess we both needed to grow up a little and figure out what we wanted in our individual lives) We have also been living together for about 18 months.

Our status, hmm. We''ve discussed marriage. We have every intention of getting married, but just aren''t there yet. I have about 8 months left to finish my undergrad and he is about to take over the family company. I''m not sure when it will happen bc he is ALL about suprises and I am not ( I cannot keep a secret about a suprise for the life of me..I get WAY to excited.) However he has told me around the time I graduate or when I am close to...so that could be any time....so just in case...I made sure he knows what kind of ring I want and I won''t bring it up again til it happens!!
So that''s where we are, happy and in love and content with status quo

Welcome NMRN!

Ooh! Fun topic!

1. I signed up in the summer b/c I was checking out all the diamond info before BF and I decided on one, but just started posting within the last week or 2. I''m glad I came out of lurk-dom, all the Ladies in Waiting are so supportive and sweet!

2. Started dating BF on February 18th, 2005 (seems like MissErin are only 1 day apart on our anniversaries, how cool... hope it''s lucky for us!) so almost 3 years now
30.gif
.

3. We have the diamond... and BF just told me he ordered my temporary solitaire setting so we should be *officially engaged* after he proposes, which should be soon. Yay! We''re both so excited, we can''t stop smiling

1. I lurked since May or June, but signed up in August. There was just so much information that I''d learned from here, and ended up with my own questions that I just had to sign up!

2. We''ve been dating a little over 3 years. Over 2 1/2 years of that has been long-distance, with him living in northern England and me living on the East Coast of the US. In mid-September, I moved to the UK for grad school and we are still long-distance (200 miles away), but we can see each other a few times a month rather than a few times a year. I will be spending most of my Christmas break with him (the next 3 weeks), and possibly my entire spring break (5 weeks) as well. Will have to see!

3. Marriage is a topic that regularly comes up. We''ve casually looked at rings in person together, and he knows I''ve been researching diamonds and diamond rings for years (literally a decade before I even met him; I''m slightly obsessed
3.gif
). We''ve had a few serious discussions about how we will buy our engagement ring, because jewelry prices are so ridiculous in the UK that I don''t really want to take him ring shopping for fear that he will faint at the first glimpse of a price tag! So I told him all about PS and Whiteflash''s ACA stones and how, even if we''re living in the UK and have to pay import tax and whatever on the ring, that it will still be less expensive (and better quality) than the stuff available in the UK! The trickiest things are figuring out where we will live, and where we will get married--it''s so hard because one of us will have to give up our family and friends no matter what we decide, unless we move somewhere that''s brand new to both of us...

Good questions!

1. I''ve been here about a month I guess. I lurked for a couple weeks and showed my BF some things I''d seen, and then we had a more serious conversation about really shopping for rings, and I signed up officially as an LIW.

2. S and I have dated since November 7, 2005, so a bit more than two years. We knew each other since 1998 when I transferred to his high school and we became ''friends''--really more like acquaintances and I liked him a bit (he was awfully cute and has only gotten cuterm, IMHO). Starting dating was great because I had liked him so much and just thought nothing was ever going to ''happen''--but eventually he saw the light and dumped his long-distance girlfriend for me, the sweet hometown girl he''s now known almost 10 years!

3. We have talked about marriage for a long time--if you count, "Do you think you would ever marry me?" as a proposal, I was proposed to after about a month. We''ve also talked about breaking up, for whatever reasons we have at the time, and we always agree that we''re way better off together for a multitude of reasons. We''ve gone ''window'' shopping for rings a few times since this summer. Like, four or five? I''ve also shown him things online that I like (Blue Nile, Whiteflash, James Allen, Facets Collection). We agreed that, in order to get engaged sooner--and to save some money when we are looking ahead a year or so to when we both graduate and will probably need to make a cross-country move--I will get my w-ring sooner to wear as my e-ring and then after we''re more settled and can save, I''ll get the asscher solitaire I want. He actually said last night that he can buy something after the holidays!!
36.gif
So, if we go with the Facets w-ring, which could take 3-4 weeks, I''ll probably get a proposal at the end of January/beginning of February. I''m so excited and a little nervous. I think we''re going to a local jeweler later this week to see what they have to offer (they also do custom work) in a similar style to the Facets diamond bands. Plus, I think he''d like to look at rings for himself.
9.gif

How long have you been here on the forum?
I signed up in November, so it hasn''t been that long, but I''m here almost everyday. This is the most addictive website I''ve ever been to.

How long have you been dating your SO?
I have been dating my bf for the past 4 years.
30.gif

What is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
We''ve discussed marriage on and off for the past two years. The topic of marriage didn''t get serious until I moved out and told him that I wasn''t waiting around forever. We went ring shopping in September and I''ve been waiting for the proposal since. I''m so anxious and excited for him to propose!

1) I''ve been on the forum since September of last year.
2) I have been dating FF for nine years (we met the summer after senior year of high school)
3) FF is very traditional so I will have no involvement in the ring process other than my suggestions and emails of things i like. I was promised that the proposal would happen this year

This year, as in this calendar year? By December 31st, 2007?!
6.gif

1. I lurked for about a month, then decided to join in September because i thought this place was great!!

2. I''ve known M for about three years, he was actually my best friend, and on Nov 1 2006 he asked me to be his girlfriend and we made it official
30.gif

3. We have talked about marriage --a lot, we always talk about being together and taking the next step!!! We were looking for a ring but that didnt go too well because of the jeweler, but as of right now we havent gone ring shopping and i''ve occasionally just been showing him some pictures of things i like
1.gif

I''ve been on the forums since september i tink and I''ve been with SO about 3 years. About 2 nights ago after a night of celebrating graduation, I asked if we would be engaged soon as in the next year to which he said yes....howEVER he did not remember the conversation in the morning lol
20.gif

so either that means he was just a bit too tipsy and was saying anything and everything OR that he really is planning to propose in the next year and wanted it to be a surprise and accidently spoiled it
i know for sure i won''t be getting a ring for christmas because he bought me a new cell phone 2 days ago and said that would just be my xmas present.

1. have you been here on the forum?
I have been a lurker too and just signed up yesterday! It''s kind of funny how many of us are lurkers turned posters!

2. have you been dating your SO?
I have been dating Ryan the shortest amount of time....5 whole months. But we have spent pretty much everyday and every night together since the second week of dating. We both KNOW this is it, and it is the most amazing feeling. I''m 33, never married and the last of my circle of friends to marry. I have been waiting my whole life for him!

3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)
Yes, we both have discussed marriage in depth, he is living with me and we have gone ring shopping a few times. Because of my super-sleuthing skills I know he already has the stinkin'' ring!! We actually designed it together on Blue Nile- I saved it to my "wish list" on the site and about 8 weeks ago it was listed as "No longer available".
WOOO HOOOOO!
Sort of like me- once I get that baby I will be no longer available.
41.gif

We have met all the parents and he already asked permission from my father. So now..... I wait. And wait some more. He said it will be : when I am least expecting it and memorable.

I want a bunch of us to get off of this list by New Years!

Hi! Here are my answers to your questions:

1. have you been here on the forum?
Hm. I was a lurker since about March or April of 2007, and I became a member in July 2007.

2. have you been dating your SO?
BF and I have been dating for just over four years!
1.gif

3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.)

We have discussed marriage often, and have gone ring shopping a few times online, and once in person to see what the different styles would look like on my finger. I highly doubt that he has the ring, but...who knows for sure!

Oh, this is fun...

1. have you been here on the forum? about a month, but lurked for awhile, much like the others.
2. have you been dating your SO? 5 1/2 years
3. and what is your status? (does he have the ring, have you gone ring shopping, have you discussed marriage, etc.) We always talked about marriage, but I knew he wasn''t there yet, until about a year ago. He bought the ring and has had it since 10-5, so my countdown is on! We had a good talk recently about it, and he''s waiting for the perfect time to do it and how to do it. So, that made my engagement obsession even worse! Good luck to everyone!

Oops, made a mistake on the time together - we''ve lived together 5 1/2 years, been dating for 7.
