....before your actual wedding say did you order your dress?

I ask because I''m not getting married until May 27, 2007...however, within 2 weeks of being engaged I found ''my dress'', it was a fluke I really didn''t intend for it to look good on me but it did! Anywho, David''s Bridal is having a sale this week and my dress is most likly $50 off, so that reason and because I don''t want it to be discontinued I''m going to order it probably this weekend. My aunt thinks it''s silly for me to order it so soon.....she also thinks 15 months from engagment to wedding day is too long.

Some things to think about: Do you think your taste will change in 15 months? Are you madly in love with the dress and the style and everything about it? Have you seen enough dresses to be 100% sure this is THE ONE? Do you promise to stop looking at other dresses once you've bought it so you won't be tempted to change your mind or buy another one?! I think if you can honestly answer those questions, you'll be fine. Don't let your aunt or anyone else influence your decision--this is your day, your dress and you can do whatever you want to do!

I HATE trying on clothes so I was excited when I tried on this dress that I had been drooling over on line and it looked great on me. I didn''t want to take it off. So the only dresses that I will look at will be ones in bridal magazines. I haven''t even seen one since that I like as much.

Caribou,

A friend of mine bought her wedding dress years before she ever met her husband. She came across it while her sister was
shopping for her dress and knew right away it was THE ONE. She just stored it and waited... Many years later, she met the love of her life, and got married in that dress. If you know it''s the dress, then you know. If you buy it and eventually change your mind, there''s always ebay!

It really depends on your personality. Hey, I bought my dress without ever even seeing it anywhere else but in a picture. I knew in my heart it was the one, tried on a similar dress, and ordered it. I love it! I can''t stop peeking at it. I feel confident that I made the right choice.

Good luck to you whatever you do. Sometimes it''s hard to pass up a great deal on something you love, sometimes you SHOULDN''T pass up a great deal on something you love

I''m in a very similar situation... I''m not getting married till Spring/Summer ''07, but I already bought a dress that I think is very beautiful, and was just a ridiculous bargain, so I''m pretty sure I''m going to stick w/ it, and probably not do more dress shopping!

I love clothes, but I''m just not willing to spend big bucks on a dress I''m only going to wear for a few hours (just my personal opinion for myself). I drool over other gals'' thousand dollar dresses, so I''m afraid if I try on other dresses I''ll fall in love w/ one that''s like $5K. Better to avoid the situation altogether!

Plus it''s one less thing to worry about... so if you like it, order it, and cross that off your list!!!

I got my dress at David''s (after being engaged for a whole DAY!

) I am not getting married until Aug. (so I had it 15 months before hand also) and I still love it. Though I NEVER look at dresses in fear I will like something better. I took the dress with me (I thought David''s was off the rack?

) If you LOVE it. Then I would probably get it. No regrets right?

Tacori, My friend got her''s from David''s Bridal and she had to order it but she didn''t get it on sale. They are having a $99 sale right now and I''m sure those dresses that are $99 you have to buy off the rack. I''m wondering myself if I will be getting my off the rack since it will be $50 off.

Lizzie, I''m getting married in the Spring ''07...May 27. When is your date?

I have an appointment at David''s Bridal on Sunday...yeah!

I got my dress from David''s and it was $50 off. I didn''t get it off the rack, they ordered it from the warehouse and it got in about two weeks later. Dresses marked $99 or dresses with a red line drawn through the price are usually discontinued (as opposed to just being on sale) so you have to buy those off the rack.

Back on topic,

if you love the dress, buy it! My wedding is in August, and I bought it in November. But do stop looking..even in magazines, I think!

One of my girlfriends bought her dress less than a week after she got engaged and had it for about 15 months. She knew she always wanted a particular style and when she tried it on she knew it was *her*. She still looked (as we got married a month apart and she went looking at dresses with me) but she never regretted getting her dress so "early".

I say if that''s what you love, then go for it!

For David''s you have to buy off the rack if they have the dress in your exact size. I bought my dress off the rack there, and it was on sale but only $50 off I think. My best friend also got her dress there. They had her size but she complained because the beading was a little messed up, so the salesgirl ordered a new one for her even though she said, "we''re not supposed to do this...". Lo and behold, the new dress comes in and it is too tight!!!! Sometimes it''s true that people trying them on stretches them a little bit....anyway, they still had the original one that she tried on...so she ended up having to give them the one she ordered and take the one she had tried on weeks before!

I got my dress about 9 months ahead... but I did extensive shopping.

I would check w/David''s that the style isn''t being discontinued in the near future and wait. David''s is ALWAYS having a sale. Seriously. I went there multiple times over a period of 6 mo and they had the same (as far as I could tell) sale ... usu around 50-100 off the dress. I think it''s a tactic to get you to buy sooner.

Since you have so much time I think you should at least go to a few other places and just try on different dresses. THere are a lot of dresses at bridal salons for around the same price point as Davids, and have much better quality, IMO. But then, I''m a real snob when it comes to fabric......
