How many pairs of diamond earrings do you ladies have?

At the last count, I have 6 pairs of diamond earrings (well 7 really but am sending one pair to my niece as a graduation present) and 2 pairs of jackets.

Just wondering how many you ladies have and how often do you wear them?

Sometimes I love the fact that I have the flexibility but other times I wish I'd spent the money on rings or saved it for some other worthy cause(s). I tend to wear my studs and pear jackets most often and the rest just sits in the bank safety deposit box most of the time (well, one pair has been left to me by my late mother so I treasure these).

Sometimes I feel that our hard-earned money hasn't been well spent.

. I do love my diamonds (as some of you PS'ers know, LOL), but I can't help feeling that one really doesn't *need* or shouldn't *want* so many pairs of earrings. After all, you have 10 fingers but only two ears!

In any case, please share yr story and particularly your pics.

I have 2 pairs of teeeeeeny tiny little studs that I wear in my second holes on a daily basis. Actually, DH stole one of the rounds, so I wear the teeny square ones instead). And I mean these things are teeny, LOL.

I also have a pair of pave huggies my mother gave me when I was one of her bridesmaids. I only wear them for special occasions.

And a pair of hoops with little bitty diamond ships in them from Kohls.

One of these days I will own STUDS! And not my little bitty babies either.

I have one pair of studs. They are tiny, a ttcw .80+ h SI1s from memory. Im really noticing color lately. Its really starting to bug me. I''m working on hubby for an upgrade pair to fvs2 1.8 ttcw. I have tiny ears lobes too so can''t hold much more cw than that.

Next will be working on the upgrade in color on the e-ring

. Thats also being really annoying me lately....

I have one pair of studs 2 ctw. And they''re princess cut. I think the color/clarity is H/SI2. I would have 2 pairs, but I lost one of the studs in my office. They were 1 ctw round I/VS2. I swear I''m going to find the missing one one day.

I don''t think that 0.80ct is tiny. And H is not tinted at all. IMHO, H colour is excellent, esp for a RB, and Si1 is such excellent value for money. I will not buy above H Si1 any more, particularly in earrings. It''s not worth spending all that money on, again IMHO. All that people, including myself, are going to notice is how large and sparkly a stone is.

At the risk of offending you, I think you''re *crazy* to want to upgrade yr BEAUTIFUL 5ct ACA. A well cut I colour stone is going to outshine a "regular" D-F stone any day. Again IMHO, I think it''s probably a mind-clean issue for you, and if that''s the case, I don''t think you''d ever be happy. Pleeeeeaaaaaaase do not upgrade yr gorgeous ring.

Diva, they sound divine! I am sorry though that you''ve lost one of yr studs. You know, this happens quite a lot apparently. I have friends that that''s happened to and I myself almost lost one of my studs. I went crazy looking for it and fortunately I found it. I hope you find yours one day [fingers crossed].

Hmmmm, I have three pairs: some "red carpet" dangle type DAvid Keeling made for me--they don't get worn very often but are wonderful. My 2.12 ctw super ideal studs, that I don't wear often either as I always forget. I have a small antique looking pair--no more than .70ctw that probably get the most wear as they are understated: but the thing is I have so many other types and styles of earrings the the diamonds always are a third of fourth choice. For these reasons I simply cannot justify buying earring jackets or larger studs (which I almost did last weekend!) b/c they just won't get worn anymore than they do now.

ETA: I just remembered I have a pair of diamond huggies, 1ctw, that are really functional--I can wear them alone or with a dangle. They are also quite understated--think I'll put them on today!

Everyone's earrings sound so beautiful! I have a pair of 0.25ctw studs from WF that I bought myself as a reward for getting a scholarship. They're tiny and comfy and I wear them all the time, even to sleep.

Phoenix: Maybe you have to get more earholes to make your money more well-spent.

Hi! I''m new to the forum (and am LOVING all the posts) and have just started my jewelry addiction - I mean collection.

I have one pair of 1.28ct diamond studs (need to take pics!) and just bought a pair of dangley diamond earrings on ebay yesterday - I can''t wait to get them in the mail! Below is a pic of the dangles. I''m thinking of having ''baskets'' attached to the back of the upper most circle (where the post is) so that the dangles actually become earring jackets for my studs. Has anyone tried this? Does it work and is it relatively comfortable?

I have one pair of G VS2 studs set in platinum and another pair of H VS2 studs being made by GOG as we speak. Then I have about twelve or thirteen pairs of diamond earrings. I don''t seem to wear my plain gold earrings too much any more, although I do tend to wear them for more sedate occasions like wakes and funerals.

I have one pair of 0.25 cttw princess cut studs in platinum. I''m not sure on the color but the clarity is VS and icy white. They were a gift from my mother a few years ago and the first diamonds I ever owned. I used to wear them all the time but I have a hard time with nickel in my ears so I normally don''t wear earrings at all. The jeweler seems to think that there was a mistake made and that the posts are white gold and only the basket is platinum.

FF said that someday he will upgrade my studs and get me a 1 cttw RB pair. I currently have an approximately 0.4 ct heirloom RB stone that I was looking for a mate to make earrings with but I realized I wasn''t too excited to take the heirloom stone out of its pendant setting and use it for something else just yet. So now it sits in my jewelery box.

I have a pair of 2 ctw princess studs but they need to be fixed - the settings were super cheap and both of them lost prongs, thankfully when I was holding them in my hand! The clarity of them is not the best - sI2 - but I love them. I don''t wear them often though, I usually keep my tiny 1/4 ctw ones on.

I also have HALF a set. My mom lost one of her studs and gave me the other one. I'm not sure of the size (maybe .25ish?), but the table is cut to odd proportions, so it's kind of a funky looking diamond.

I currently have a pair of .35 ctw princess diamonds G/VS1 set in platinum. They were a graduation gift from my parents for undergrad and they are super sentimental to me. I wear them 24/7 in my second holes.

I''m hoping to ask for another pair of diamond studs for a graduation gift for law school. I''d like a pair between .75 ctw and 1 ctw. (I have small ears!) I can''t decide between round or princess though. I want to continue wearing my .35 princess studs all the time. Would it look funny to have a small princess stud and a larger round in the same ear? Or should they both be princess?

I have very small ears and am very self-conscious wearing large earrings, so I have a pair of martini studs that are .70ctw. They are transitional cut diamond that I acquired individually. They are perfect size for me! In addition I have one pair of small pave huggies. They measure about 1/2 inch in diameter.

For me, they are perfect. Small, discreet and comfortable, yet white and very sparkly. I wear them everyday, except for parties or special events. I don''t plan to upgrade them. I like them just as they are.

in the safe, i have 2 pairs that don''t really see the sun as often, ~2.00 ctw, and 2.80 ctw. all of them are round.
i kinda wish that i hadn''t wanted so many pairs of earrings and invested the money in other things, but i guess what''s done is done. but i will not be getting anymore earrings.

Js - here you go. My ear lobes are big so that .82 doesn''t look huge on them. If only I had tiny little lobes
