I''ve noticed I''m not alone in trying to navigate the yearnings/need of a simple band, but also wanting "a little more". DF and I spent yesterday afternoon trying on bands and where I really came down to was, I love the artisan quality of band A but I can see wanting a plain gold band to wear on it''s own sometimes due to work environment and travel.

Those of you have more than one wedding band, did you have multiples from the start, or acquired as you went?

My wedding band is an Art Carved thick band, with flowers and milgrain around it, that I found at an antique store years ago. Recently I''ve begun looking for additional ones but have yet to find one in my size. . .and I don''t think the ones I do like can be resized. (my eng ring is a 4.75 and my wedding band is a 5)

I had two wedding bands from the start, what can I say I''m indecisive. I have a plain rose gold band and a rose gold eternity. DH also suggested we add a new eternity for every 5 years of marriage - hey who am I to disagree?

my wring wasn''t made in time for the wedding so I got a little antique band off of ebay.

my diamond accented band showed up a few weeks later.

I usually just wear the diamond accented band with my ering, but sometimes I stack the antique band too.

And next year...I am hoping to get an eternity I can stack as well

I have 5 that I wear interchangeably. Original wide band, e-ring with ring guard, eternity, five stone, and small little band. Never stopped to think about that.

I exchanged my vows with a plain 2mm pipe cut platinum band. I felt like there was something traditional and so obviously *married* about a plain old wedding band.

However, I have about 5 or so other bands that I wear with my e-ring when I don''t feel like wearing a plain set, including my bezel miligrain round band, 2 mini baguette bands, sapphire/diamond band, pave band, or a white gold plain band.

I think I may have FINALLY found my forever band on Erica Grace''s site. It''s rare to find an estate carre cut eternity ring in around my size (5+/-) and when I saw Erica had one, I jumped on it. The carre cut was pretty much the eternity band I had wanted from the beginning, but because costs piled on so high and so quickly while planning our wedding in only 6 weeks, the diamond wedding band was left to be a *someday* piece.

I have two. I purchased them this way and usually wear them together (they look like one ring when worn alone) or flanking my ering. I didn''t care for the way my ring looked with just one.

I have one wedding band that I received on our wedding day. I can wear it with the E-ring or separate.

I also have a criss-cross David Yurman sliver and diamond band that I can wear in lieu of my E-ring/wedding band set. We got it on our honeymoon.

Oh Whitby!!!! That ring is so pretty, I was just looking at it the other day. hope it works out to be your forever band!!!

I have 2, one on each side of my engagement ring. I just think it looks cool, it doesn''t really mean anything.

I have two - a plain white gold wedding band and a 7-stone diamond wedding band. I always wear all three, sometimes I wear my plain band with my engagement ring and the diamond one as a RHR, sometimes my diamond band with my engagement ring and the plain band on my right hand. Depends on my mood

Here are some pictures of all three http://www.pricescope.com/forum/op-requested/lilac-s-engagement-and-wedding-rings-t120210.html

ETA: I realized I didn't actually answer the whole question! I've had both wedding bands since the wedding. I had picked out the plain one, and then DH surprised me with the diamond one at the wedding as a wedding gift. So I've always worn all three rings since the wedding.

I love that David Yurman ring, so pretty!

I''ve only been married for 6 months, but it''s always been my plan to have only one wedding band. I got a plain platinum band (plain because there are no diamonds, but it''s not your generic plain band either) so that I could wear it all the time - while sleeping, hiking, washing dishes, etc.

Now, I would love to have more diamond bands for anniversaries or something, but I plan to wear them stacked with my wband (or on my right hand) rather than wearing them as a replacement wband. My wedding band will still be my one and only wedding band.

have pictures of the DY ring????? i''ve been looking for something that sounds like that.

i have 2- my wedding band we got to exchange our vows (the one i wear pretty much daily) which is a ring guard actually that appears to be 2 bands and flank my ering.

i also have the original band that my husband''s grandmother wore with the ering. i haven''t been wearing that one, however i''m sure i will in the future.

Just the one. A platinum band set with a tiny princess cut diamond. DH has a plain one, they were made out of a single piece of metal.

I also have a 2.5ct shared prong eternity band and a 5 stone band which I wear instead sometimes, but they aren''t wedding rings.

I have one but my husband has two. I''ll be honest, my wedding band isn''t exactly what I wanted to get but it was recommended, so I went with it. I know what I want but I have a few concerns, so I''ll stick with what I have. Maybe someday I''ll get a RHR.

My husband got his band from Bruce Boone and when it came, he wasn''t too crazy about the finish. Instead of returning the first ring and ordering a replacement, we just shelled out the money for another ring.

purselover: Agreed! I don''t think you''ll find anyone on PS who would turn down such an offer.

luv2sparkle: Shine on. It sounds like you have the perfect mix and match set.

LaurenThePartier: Yes, I totally get the *married* look. I forgot to say as much while listing all my practical reasons for a plain band. Your mix and match sets are fabulous. Erica Grace has great things on her site. I''ve never seen it before.

Lilac: How sweet is that of your husband. Both of the rings are so pretty. It makes total sense that you''d end up wearing all three.

Elrohwen: That completely appeals to the romantic in me. I do worry I''m loosing sight of the significance by considering two official wb.

Charbie: Your so lucky to have such a sentimental token.

SanDiegoLady: There is a difference between how we see rings- WB vs. Stacking ring isn''t there? Your future ring sounds great, I hope it comes sooner than later.

When I got married, mine was 4 1/4 and yellow gold. I upgraded the ering. And can''t wear a size 4.25... I have a few bands I wear off and on depending on my mood. BUT no specific wedding band. I feel that is what I was married with... Hubby can''t say much, he doesn''t wear one period...

I go in spurts will wear one for ages, then change it up a bit. I like variety..

I know I am not the norm...

I have my first band that fit my first diamond chip ering that I lost the diamond in and never replaced, we then upgraded to a 1/2 carat solitare and plain band in yg that were stolen so then I started wearing my grandmas yg illusion set ering with a eternity band that I got on ebay until we got the ring I have now, a white gold eternity band that I wear with my ering and a carved wg eternity band that I wear by itself to work. I only wear the last two now just because I do not wear a lot of yellow gold anymore. So I officially have 4 but wear two. I used to think you should have one ring and that was it but I have found it is just not practical, there are some places you just do not want to wear a big ol diamond ring too but yet you want something on that left hand.

I have multiple wedding bands. A combination shared prong/channel set that I got married with, and wore daily for years. Then I have a 2mm plain white gold and 3mm plain white gold band. I have been wearing the 2mm plain band with my e-ring for the last several months as my original w-ring was eating into my upgraded e-ring. And now I`m waiting for yet another band from WF, which is a 2.5mm channel set and am planning to wear that one with my e-ring instead.

HI:

Hmmmm, 5. Plus other rings (e.g Cartier Trinity, eternity) I throw into the mix. Most often I just wear my ER alone.

cheers--Sharon

I have two wedding bands. Initially I was just going to get the 3/4 eternity band, but kept fretting about whether or not to go diamond or plain. I ended up also purchasing a 2.5 mm plain platinum band, and really like having the option of switching them around. I had my husband place both on my finger together during the ceremony. (tied them together with a thin ribbon)

I find that most of the time I prefer the look of the plain band with the solitaire, so I wear the eternity on my right hand. But it''s really nice to be able to stack them together when I want more bling. I either wear the plain with solitaire, or all 3 stacked. Oddly, the eternity with the ering alone is not my favorite look.

lol! hallo bella! i think you mighta taken a wrong turn in the lounge to end up here with this post! thank you tho :)

and mayachel - i have lots. i love bands - bands are my downfall. i''m not overly fond of big rings/diamonds, but i LOVE bands and, having large fingers, i like good side-to-side coverage. i have them in rose gold, yellow gold, white gold, platinum, with stones, without stones, with gemstones etc. i only wear rings on my wedding finger, so they all look at least a *bit* like wedding bands, so the line is pretty blurred.

i won''t put an absolute number on it, but i''ve been collecting them since we got married 25 years ago, and at this point i have dozens.

I have 7

But I've been married for 26 years--I figured it was cheaper to keep the man and change the ring instead of the other way around

I have one wedding band, but a hell of a lot of eternity rings.

To whit: when we were looking for wedding bands, my husband and I went back and forth, back and forth, before finally realizing that we were really different in our tastes, and that that was part of why we loved one another ... so why try to fight the inevitable? So I designed both our bands, but he had input into both, too - so instead of the eternity that I''d wanted, I compromised on an etoile band (he was worried it wouldn''t be practical, and his Inner Swede thought it would be too showy with my e-ring (sorry for the parentheses within the parentheses, but I should explain that my ring is stupid big by Swedish standards, even while being pretty middle-of-the-road for NYC: apparently, for a while there, friends-of-friends in the Old Country called him "carat-and-a-half-guy)). I wear my wedding band separately on my right hand, because I''m Russian, and that''s my idea of what marriage looks like: a band on the right hand that NEVER goes anywhere.

The e-ring? That, I happily bling up with a bunch of eternity rings. One channel-set, one alternating marquis-sapphires-and-round-diamonds, one Alex Sepkus. It''s a good compromise, I think ... cause on the one hand, there''s the symbol of eternal devotion, and on the other hand, there''s bling. It''s nice when you can mix it up (each of the bands *does* have its own significance), but, frankly, I think sometimes it''s okay to just want something beautiful, to maintain that bit of independence still, as it''s part of your contribution to your union.

P.S. - all that said, I''m glad that my wedding band doesn''t need to be babied: I cook, clean, do chin-ups in my ring without worrying. The delicate eternity I''d wanted initially would have needed a little more care, and, symbolically and practically, I''m glad my level-headed husband grounded my flight of fancy, just like always.

P.P.S. - THAT said, I''m glad I made his utilitarian band pretty as well as wearable. He gets compliments on it from his rugged coworkers.

three, but I only plan to wear one - i just keep changing my mind and my ering metal!

umm.. I have a temporary cheap band (mostly sentimental value) and 5 other bands that I stack - all very deilcate - 2 1mm gold bands, and 2 delicate eternities and one other with diamonds

I have a thin (1.75 mm maybe) half eternity pave band that I wear when I want more sparkle and a plain, 2mm white gold band for every day.

I have two, but expect that I will have four. I have a thin eternity and a plain band to pair with my solitaire or stack right now. I was married with the eternity and tend to wear it the most.

My plain band is 2 mm (but I am exchanging it for a 1.5 mm this week) and it is too thin to wear alone, so I am hinting to DH to buy me a 3 or 4 mm plain band to wear to the gym and when I don''t wear the e-ring. Ultimately, though (since I am a PSer after all), I want a hefty eternity or 5-stone for those times I am not wearing my e-ring and am not scrubbing out. I probably won''t get this ring until a later anniversary.

DH refuses to acknowledge any but the original eternity as my wedding band. He has a strong opinion on e-rings and wedding bands that they should never be upgraded or replaced. However, he is perfectly fine with me having as many other rings as I want so long as I don''t refer to them as WBs or e-rings. That is a deal I can make.
