I know a lot of people get these done. How long do they last, and what is the cost?

Are there packages already made for this? What would they include?

I am wondering because I want to elope, but I want a photographer there, and I figured that the time would be more comparable to an engagement photo shoot than a wedding. I am thinking an hour to hour and a half max, since we would be totally low key at a beach by ourselves.

Appreciate any insight you can offer :)

My engagement shoot was covered in my wedding package. I knew the photographer I wanted, so I snatched her up before someone else did for that day. Our shoot was over an hour at a local park that I love. In hindsight when I think of the money I spent on my wedding photos, I deserved that "free" shoot.

Oh yeah, I had to pay for each photo I wanted from the shoot.

I am probably not much help. But I can look at my paperwork for prices when I get home.

Different photographers treat it differently. If you get a $2,000 package for example, they''ll throw the e-pics in for "free" as an incentive. You can get a package anywhere between $250 to $700.

If you are eloping though how would it be more of an engagement photo shoot than a wedding shoot

. Also, are you going to another country to elope? Sometimes its part of the wedding package. For example, in DR if you stay for 7 nights then your entire wedding package is free which includes 100 photos taken by their photographer.

I would contact a photographer or two just to get an idea. Just let them know you are having a private ceremony on the beach and want to have photos to remember the occasion and you would like to know what their hourly rate is.

In addition to their hourly fee, some charge you more for wedding pictures because they are covering the cost of printing and editing the photos to go into an album; or are providing you with negatives; slideshows or other media. Most will allow you to customize the package.

I just meant that the time would be more like an e-photo shoot than a full wedding photo shoot, because it would only take about an hour. Sorry if that was confusing...

Anywhere from free (with a wedding package or if done by a friend) to many thousands of dollars for chi-chi photographers. I know that isn''t much help, but that is the reality!

It really varies widely. I would just research photogs you like and then contact them.

For example, ours cost just under $1000 and consisted of:
-six hours of the photog in various locations
-hair/makeup/wardrobe stylist who worked with us the whole time
-unlimited film from which we got almost 200 images (she does not shoot with digital cameras)
-proofs online that we could order (pictage.com)
-proof prints housed in a keepsake box
-slideshow of highlights set to music

It was a lot of money but we also got a lot in return. Everyone is raving about the slideshow. It was so fun I wish we could do it again...

ETA: I see I misunderstood your post. My photog has an "Intimate Coverage" package for small or destination weddings, but it still covers 6 hours which would be too much for your needs. I've seen photogs with elopement packages, I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

OOOOOO Duh. I thought you meant that it''ll be soon after the engagement so it''ll be an engagement shoot

LOL I don''t know what I was thinking.

We''re paying $200 for 2+ hours next week for a "lifestyle" shoot in Hawai''i. It''s technically an engagement session, but our photographer is aware that we are not engaged :) We just wanted to have photos done while we''re there since it''s such an important place to the two of us.

Hi trillionaire... With our photographer, the engagement photo session was included if you purchased one of the top "packages". It was really fun I thought and we incorporated a picture into our invitations and also had some at the church and reception site. We did them outside in a beautiful park during fall and the shoot lasted about 2 hours. All we had to pay for were the pictures we ordered...

thank gals! Very helpful info!
